... We heard some Luxemburgish music and I liked it. Conrad worked on the computer to map our route for tomorrow while Karyn and I chatted. Spoogy sat in her lap for a bit and then made his way to mine. He is a very sweet dog! We all went to bed at 11 pm. I stayed up for an hour more to upload pictures while making a tent with my blanket. I hid under it because it was warmer that way! I drifted off to sleep at midnight.
Of course I needed to visit Luxembourg, hiding away there between France, Germany and Belgium. It is the fifith smallest country in the world. It is very hilly and surrounded by trees. The hostel is down at the bottom of a cliff, yay! The city of course is quite small, but it is surrounded by ruins and forest which makes it quite a unique city in amongst the hustle and crowds of all the other major cities. The people there speak French and their own language, Luxembourgish I suppose.
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg tonkin... Roman ruins and the churches up close. Trier was very nice and I love the feeling there, the Roman baths were also really cool to see. We also had a great dinner in the main square of town. I had Pepper Steak and spetzlah. It was so good. The seats outside were great and I was able to people watch and really just embrace in the culture. Plus a little wine probe, wine tasting, helped a lot.
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg drunkendidier... Trier. It was breathtaking. We could see all the Roman ruins and all of the churches in the city. It was a really amazing sight for me. So after a few minutes of gazing at the city we got back in the car and went to Speicher, where I lived for the first year of my life. After getting to their house in Speicher we had a few drinks and just chatted about the past.
Trier, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany drunkendidier... was stationed here. Check off another entry on the old bucket list but one I really want to repeat before too long...only next time I would like to do an extensive tour over here on a bike.
Unfortunately, my main digital camera broke and nothing I can do to fix it. So I am on my iPhone today with the few uploads I have.
Tomorrow I need to be up early for an 8:30 departure from the ...
... We've already made a decision to go to another game if one comes up any time soon. :)
Friday, the last day of school of the week, came as a relief. We were all tired of visiting courts, wearing our suits, and being bussed around like school children. The hotel had conference rooms that could accommodate the size of our group, so we didn't have to go far for school. A bunch of people decided to go on road trips for ...
We took a bus trip to Luxembourg today. On the way, we stopped at Dinant in the Ardennes. We took a gondola ride to the top of the cliff overlooking the town and the river. There is a citadel looking over the town. This is the birthplace of Adolph Sax, the inventor of the saxophone. We then continued to Luxembourg; Had lunch - walked around town - it -was warm, and restful; ont the way back we stopptd in small Belgian town for a bierre
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg maireaderek... with us. It's nice to get a warm reception. Friday, January 9 Today they took us to Lux City for more orientation stuff. We went first to 2 memorial sites. The first was the Luxembourg American Military Cemetary. It's just out of Lux City, and is an elaborate memorial, including 5,000 crosses erected to memorialize 5,000 of the American soldiers who died in ...
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg alina-beth... the Benelux region during our program-sponsored tour came as a welcome surprise. From Maastricht, we followed the Maas into the lush green hills that announced the Belgian border, through quaint towns of ambiguous European origin and along the route Patton's 3rd Army used to reinforce the beleaguered 101st Airborne during the Seige of Bastogne (now commemorated with stone pillars reading "Voie de la Liberte" or ...
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg dcarlson... We then had a quick coffee break which sucked because they only had coffee, and I don't drink coffee. We then were talked to by one of the judges on the court who had been taught by Justice Souter (Supreme Court Justice) at Harvard Law, and then Souter has cited to his rulings in an opinion. He talked to us about how the different member states of EU are bound by EU law as opposed to their national law. We then walked to the European ...
