... oil and garlic. It was actually very good, and I'm not a big broccoli fan. We spent the rest of the evening chatting in the kitchen because it was the warmest room in the house. There is a wood burning stove in the kitchen and that is what is used mainly to heat the house. It got very cold here. Karyn said that it was -3 C the prior evening!
We chatted around the stove and listened to a variety of ...
Of course I needed to visit Luxembourg, hiding away there between France, Germany and Belgium. It is the fifith smallest country in the world. It is very hilly and surrounded by trees. The hostel is down at the bottom of a cliff, yay! The city of course is quite small, but it is surrounded by ruins and forest which makes it quite a unique city in amongst the hustle and crowds of all the other major cities. The people there speak French and their own language, Luxembourgish I suppose.
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg tonkin... my parents worked for those years. It was pretty awesome to see where my dad was a firefighter so many years ago. Also it was weird because the base brought me back to my youth were I spent lots and lots of time on the base in Great Falls. It was really cool to have that feeling again. After we were done with Spangdhalem we meet up with Mo and went to Trier to walk around and look at ...
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg drunkendidierAt last I finally arrive in Trier and meet up with Maureen and Richard. They are old friends of my parents and have agreed to put me up for the next few nights. They recognized me at once saying I look like my parents, of course I smiled and said you don't have to be mean. HAHA. Well after we got in the car we went to the top hill of Trier were we could see all ...
Trier, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany drunkendidierThis was a gorgeous day and one of the best for cycling as it was warm enough to be comfortable in a T Shirt, but not hot enough to raise a sweat while cycling. I was able to do around 40 kilometers in an abbreviated session of five hours...all of it on the level beside these two beautiful rivers. It fulfilled a dream I have always had in mind to accomplish but never had the time or wherewithall when ...
Trier, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany milestogo... that are in the armrests of the chairs in the peanut gallery.
Because there is little to do in Luxembourg, after we were done with court, we went to a soccer game. We were all expecting a typical European soccer game, complete with crazy fans and good playing. We were tremendously disappointed to see that the 30 of us who went made up almost 1/3 of the crowd, and the soccer itself was less than impressive. It's alright ...
... City is Beautiful and great to walk around in. We took a self guided walking tour around the city to see some interesting things and to learn that most of Luxembourg was built on top of a series of caves called Casemates for protection. Chrissy wanted so badly to go in them but when we finally got around to doing it, we found they close pretty early. Still a fun experience. Our day then continued with a little more riding to find a campsite near the German/french/lux border.
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg randyandchrissy... because I'm still a little tired, and it was pretty boring. The best part of the day was when Liz, Marissa, and I (my roommates and good friends) looked around Bettembourg for somewhere to eat. We found a great kabob place (kabobs are like gyros) and we were able to eat for only 4 euros a piece. The person working the restaurant was really fun too and ...
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg alina-bethMy view of coach buses had been previously tainted by a grueling midsummer breakdown between Washington and Gettysburg, during which sweat, humidity, trash and diesel combined for an overwhelming stench that made our two-hour delay nearly unbearable and--quite literally--made the rest of the trip stink. Therefore the well-kempt, fresh-smelling, coffee stocked 2008 Mercedes-Benz luxury coach that would carry us ...
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg dcarlson... are required to follow the rule limiting contracts to a certain number of years. We then got to go in and here the arguments for this case. The arguments were in Spanish, as it was a Spanish case. We had ear phones to listen to a real time translator. It was pretty neat. They had random languages that the case was interpreted in, like Bulgarian. The arguments lasted almost three hours, longer than expected. I fell asleep pretty good during the ...
