Travel Day - We're off!

Well this is it! Taxi arrived on time to pick us up in glorious sunshine........sign of things to come? Hope so! Travelled to Heathrow on National Express coach with one change in Birmingham. Unfortunately, we had a female member of the Russian Mafia in a seat adjacent to us who made more phone calls on her mobile than I make in months. Felt like taking out the Kalashnikov and giving her a quick burst! Changed seats to get away from her but only managed to find yet another female (Asian this ...

The legendary Abbey Road zebra crossing is right in front of me. I've been looking at this crossing since as long as I can remember. It's been my computer wallpaper on and off again, and a blown up poster of it hangs in my room in Miami as we speak. I have literally seen this crossing a uncountable amount of time, and here I am, staring right at it in real time. It's smaller than it looks in my head, and of course, it's just like any other street crossing anywhere, but just ...

Dashing through the towns

... block than run to the next museum. That said, I don't really do museums much either. A couple of hours at Elizabeth Castle in Jersey was enough for me. I still climb all the stairs although that is getting harder. (good things are always up). I do wander through the museums but usually am in and out the door in very short order. That's one of the rare good things about traveling without my husband. He ...

Shaolin Temple, the birthplace of Zen Buddhism and the home of Kung fu,is situated in the beautiful Songshan mountains. It was established in 495. Bada, an ancient monk came to Luoyang to spread Buddhism. Emperor Xiaowen was a believer of Buddhism, so he decided to build a temple in the Songshan ...

Rain, Rain, Go Away, don't come back till I'm Away

... As usual, needing only 1 ticket I was able to snag one in the first section, center stage. So, this morning I booked my B&B's throughout Britain and Scotland. All the places I mentioned the other day were already booked. I had to start over in finding places. I did figure out my online booking problem. I usually use Firefox as my internet browser. When I switched to Internet Explorer the error messages ...

The Sound of Squirrels & Music

... old friend - something we all grew up with so it was great to see they hadn't changed much from the movie. There were some new bits but all the oldies were there as well (just makes you want to sing thinking about it!). The casting was spot on and all the sets were absolutely stunning! What a fabulous choice! Stopped for dinner afterwards and had the best Italian food we've had all trip (apologies to the Italians!).

... de Triomphe in Paris. The pass lets you go up to the top for a pretty lackluster view, and should be skipped. Afterwards I went to the Hard Rock Cafe to buy my dad a London Pin for his collection (6.5 pounds) and walked to Buckingham Palace to find out that the changing of the guard was cancelled for the day, oh well.

After that setback I decided to wander over to one of the worlds most famous department stores, Harrods to walk around for an hour. Harrods is insanely ...

... hours so that I can 1.) save money 2.)be in time to pay the rent and 3.) get shoes and (normal) food! I'll be able to run and perhaps even capable of lifting some weights in my spare time and oh, I have the weekends off! So, no more returning home at midnight in an almost empty central line getting my head bumped onto the glass for almost falling asleep, no more drinking that one can of beer in that train and the one I have on ...

A quick hello!

Hi Everyone, Thought we'd do a quick blog to say hello and share some pics. We have been busy working mostly but still find time to do some cool things around London. For those of you who dont know, we now have our own appartment which is cool, and are both working full time. We have met some great people both at work and in our appartment block, and we are really enjoying our time here. Last week we went to see Pink in ...

Around the world in 111 days

We returned safe and sound, after 2 10-hour flights, seamless interchange in LA and plenty of films, safe back onto British soil. Lauren back to the province and Josh off to see Carlisle and Glasgow for a week. The trip has been an exceptional time and one that we will remember and treasure. The rough and the smooth as always compliment and enhance each other, and many of the ...
