For a Friday afternoon on a Holiday weekend, we were surprised on how quiet it was. As we were driving into town, the road were fairly empty and we made good time. As we started to get closer to our hotel, we got the expected traffic like Beijing and Tokyo. BUT...wow...I have to say it again...WOW! C...

shanghai, China ratu8/16...Got here about 3pm where our tour guide Darren picked us up and took us to our hotel. Got organized and decided to go out to the Shanghi Urban Planning Center and dinner at the Shanghi Oriental Pearl TV Tower. Third highest TV tower in the world. Enjoyed the lights of Shanghi from 263 meters in the air and then went to get some swimming goggles. Darren did not know Speedo (how is this possible?) but he does now. Kris was put in charge of getting Jack goggles and ended up spending over ...

... call was at the Jin Mao Tower which has 88 floors accessed by a high speed lift. The weather was very good (apparently it had been raining hard for the previous 10 days so we were very lucky) so I had an excellent view over the city. From there we went to Yuyuan Gardens situated in downtown Shanghai. The gardens are surrounded by narrow predestrian areas between old Chinese style buildings built very close. The area was quite big ...
Shanghai, China susanel... only in china, right? get a passport and a happy ending without ever leaving the 7th floor! luckily, my passports got me in the door. there wasn't a line so i managed to finish everything up in 10 mins. i even managed to register to absentee vote. woohoo! and then the rest of the day was devoted to shopping. then rushing back to wuxi to work at web. no wonder i'm always so tired whenever i leave shanghai. i do a full day of running around then i have to go to work afterward. :(
Shanghai, Shanghai, China maymay1980... the stuff in there could have been anywhere in china. and considering this is shanghai for christ sake, i expected more. no mention of the city at all. after the museum, we met back with everyone to catch the train to wuxi. on our way there, i was stopped for jaywalking. that's right. in a land where crossing the street is considered a sport, i was stopped by the local traffic cops for walking on red. first he asked for my id. i don't have one. so he talked for a while about the ...
Shanghai, China maymay1980... the Pudong district which meant that we had to get to the other side of the river. Got the ferry over, cheap and cheerful and walked up to the tower, The elevator brought us to the observatory deck with a speed that made my ears pop. The view was quite spectacular even though it was overcast. Alot of people go to the Jin Mao tower but the Pearl tower is actually higher (the highest building in Asia). By the time we got back to the ...
