I've just popped over to Malta for a day & a bit (as you do!) to say a quick hello / goodbye to my parents (and bring them lots of goodies over for the last time in a while).

The weather is a little warmer than the UK, but not as warm as it's going to be in a week's time (ha ha ha).

Anyway, I'll keep this blog short so ciao for now!

Anita x
Mellieha, Island of Malta, Malta oltona... price realized that had we walked out of the port gates we could have got a taxi and guide for a lot cheaper. Being kiwi’s we hate that feeling of being ripped!!! We visited a beautiful town called Sidi Bou Said, again painted blue and white with the most amazing patterned and painted doors we have ever seen. Tunis consists of the most colourful merchandise, fragrances from the aromatic essences, pretty sparkles from the beaten silver, and ...
Malta, Malta sewtersojournsSleeping on the upper bunk of the ship's cabin reminds me of having an MRI. When I went in for the procedure a month ago, I was rolled under a flat plate two inches above my face and my head was secured to the table so I couldn’t move for twenty minutes. I don’t think I got over that terrifying experience because even though the cabin’s ceiling was two feet over me I felt claustrophobic. When we rise at 6:00am from ...
Valletta, Island of Malta, Malta hiwhthi...

Valletta, Malta kleinmeliMalta is the most fascinating place I have every visited. I am already checking out the INternational Schools and trying to get Gary to move here!
Don't worry Kate...not much luck so far.

I'll update more later as it's time for a beer in the piazza!
Valletta, Island of Malta, Malta dgk... by the Germans and Italians during WWII. I also found that the design is not at all of the style I was expecting. Although there is influence of the classical period on the Churches, etc. the most predominant feature I found was the Moorish influence. The Knights of Malta spent their lives fighting the "infidel" yet took a lot from them. I like it. Since we are talking ...
Valletta, Island of Malta, Malta elaqidTiny Maltese islands have been ruled by countries on almost every shore of the Mediterranean, from Spain in the west to Greece in the east, from Italy to the north to Tunisia in the south. The lasting legacy is from the pan-European Knights of St John, who based themselves on the island of Malta, and who built the major churches and ...
Valletta, Malta gordon.ye... islands found pygmy elephants. They killed them and ate them all of course, leaving huge piles of bones and lots of empty bottles of barbecue sauce. 'Nuff said. But when the Maltese came they built; civilization has been here as long or longer than anywhere, some seven thousand years, and featuring the oldest free-standing structure in the world. The original language would have been overwhelmed by the Arabic brought in by the same Arabs ...
Valletta, Island of Malta, Malta hardiekWe Risked it and took the bus again to FLoriana. It was a nice day so no problems! It is all statues, churches and gardens. So of course we ended up going to Valletta for a little shopping!!! We went along Republic Street which only pedestrians are aloud on and its all old historical looking buildings with advertising ...
Floriana, Malta elizabeth21... for Creativity was originally built during WWII but has since been renovated. Unfortunately, its name is more interesting that the actual venue, which is sparsely appointed and feels uncompleted, one foot in the past the other sporting steel doors and fancy spotlights. A poster for a local production of Cabaret at the Manoel Theatre is tacked to the notice board, and I note that we should go. Preparations for the Feast of St. Paul's Shipwreck are beginning throughout the city: lights ...
