I am having a great time in this city. Despite the fact that I have to hold down the shift key to get a full stop. What are they thinking? As if a semi-colon is used more frequently than a full stop!!
Today Marty and I visited Notre Dame. It is a big cathedral; not unlike many I have visited on this journey already. We went in because it was free and the line was moving quickly. It was grand inside, but not as full on as ...
Today we crossed over to the left bank, starting off at St Germaine de Pres. A very old monastry going back to Carolingian times. Perhaps 8th cenury. It has obviously had some hard times over the centuries but it was intesting to see. Musee Rodin was next. I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to see such a body of work together. Our feet started to give out ...
paris, France gandablog... You can request an eNewsletter on our site....or just send me an email and I'll add you to the list. In the past two years we've had others who have gone to Africa on our behalf or whom we had sponsored. They have shared a voice of spreading the word about the area and our work. In the summer of 2007 two medical students Aaron Blue and Phil Myers spent about a month at the Chizeni Clinic in Balaka, Malawi. Accompanying them was ...
Paris, France victorkubik... bus. Overcast but warm weather meant that it was great to sit on the top deck. There are four routes and the route we were on included Notre Dame, Place de la Concorde, Arc de Triomphe - the Paris Grand Tour. The last time we were in Paris we hadn't ...
Paris, France carpeau... it has allowed me to see some sights I would not have paid to go to otherwise. Day 4 Versailles. The Rick Steves book was incorrect here, but it was due to the renovations on the Chateau (Palace of Versailles). Glad I arrived before opening here as there is no special entry for pass holders and general ticket holders. Everyone had to move through the same slow security line. I was even happier when I left the place and saw the lines on the way out. They were at least a ...
Paris, France asteyskal... time to Paris. This time I went off on my own and did whatever I pleased. I joined the group for a visit to the beloved Notre Dame cathedral (I have an odd obsession with gargoules!) and also for a trip to the Lourve. Thats were I broke from the group. I walked around the Louvre at my own pace, bought "deux croissant" and a Coka Light, and then took a stroll along the Seine ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France april.abate... Across from the BHV there was an exhibition of Cabu's cartoons of Paris and Parisiens. I had wanted to see the exhibiton last fall but there was always a huge queue and we never made it. Since there was no line this time, we decided we'd try and go after lunch. Of course when we returned there was a bit of a queue. We were on the wrong side of the street to enjoy the sun, so the wait was a little blustery and chilly. Nonetheless Rob (who ...
Paris, France travelingmom... talking about. Afterwards, I was supposed to meet Danielle and Holly at La Sacre Coeur, but I wasn't exactly sure which metro stop to take, since a bunch looked ot be about equidistant. The two I picked were definitely wrong, because they took me to a really shady part of town. Instead of walking around there trying to find it, I decided just to hop the metro back to La Cite, and be safe. I'll have to figure out how to get there so I can another time.
Paris, France smanky... way (the one that The Phantom of the Opera was based on), and then ventured to this amazing store. Inside, there were separate stores of Gucci, Dior, and Chanel. Lauren and I found a 25, 725.00 euro fur coat, and I think the cheapest thing in the store was a single candle for about 3 euros. It was nice to get warm, and to participate in the crazy pre-Christmas shopping that was going on. After Galleria Lafayette, we headed back to the Latin Quarter, got lunch, shopped, and visited ...
