We've made it to France! We travelled down to Plymouth last night and stayed in a ropey hotel - very Faulty Towers! After checking in we were both a bit worried about the bikes on top of the car so went out to get them in the pouring rain and kept them in our room. When we got up this morning the rain was still going but we managed to put the bikes back on the car and get to the ferry port without any problems. Once we were on the ferry and had explored a bit we managed ...

... with two options for the afternoon; ride the programmed route for the afternoon or take a van tour of the same area. Two of the guys were very keen to ride and we're hoping that the weather would improve and the rest of us were happy to be driven for the remainder of the day. So that's what happened. Five of us headed out along the peninsula and stopped for lunch at a town along the way and two of the guys ...

... but true. Then it's up a couple of sneaky hills to the hotel. We rode 60kms today! We're staying in a town called Carnac at the Tumulus Hotel and Spa. It's lovely, great big room, comfy lounge chairs, room to hang the washing out and dodgy wifi. Quick shower and I'm off for my massage, which is as wonderful as you'd expect. Get some washing done, as we're here for two nights then back to the bar to meet the others before dinner. We have a fixed ...

... go around the water. After the first 20 or so kms, we stop at a paper mill and have a tour by the guy who owns it of his paper making process. It was fascinating. He makes paper out of either old recycled cotton cloth or hemp fabric. I'd never heard of that before. Anyway, he doesn't speak English so Janice, our guide, did the translation so it was a bit of fun too. We bought some samples to take home with us, I was so impressed. We had a ...

    Day Three: Carnac

Rose had a restless night's sleep as she was too hot, so she woke a little later at 730am. Leaving the house at 930am we then headed to a place called Carnac, which is famous for its ancient standing stones. En route we passed by a family fun park which Rose, ever watchful for such an opportunity, asked if she could visit, mounting an effective campaign of persuasion! So we ended up stopping there for about two hours. Rose had a great deal of fun at the ...
