New York, New Yooooooooooork

Weekend in New York
After my return from Oz, in January, I was already getting withdrawal symptoms (the travel bug really gets you) so decided to have a short weekend break to New York! I managed to scrap enough savings together from the bottom of the barrel and departed on the Friday with my mate.
New York has been one of those places I've always wanted to …

Sofitel is magnifique!!
We have stayed at the Sofitel twice now and will be going for another week at the end of the month. We always get a suite which is quite large and really lovely. The service is excellent, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the restaurant and room service are terrific. The location of the hotel is extremely convenient. Within walking distance to all the theaters, Macys, and many other hotels, shops and restaurants. Highly recommended.
Our recent experience with Sofitel
Based on all these recommendations I booked our ten-year wedding anniversary weekend at Sofitel over Memorial Day. The rooms are very small yet nice and clean because this is still a fairly new hotel. The major problem we encountered was noise from adjoining rooms. When we asked to move from our deluxe queen we were offered a smaller room on a lower floor. A suite was offered for $100 dollars more. The next night our neighbors left so the noise level was better, except you could still hear hallway noise. Despite mentioning the occasion and our problems, the hotel did not offer anything complimentary, and I was unable to get a Sofitel priveleged guest card from the web site. The best thing about the hotel is the location, the block offers an easy walk in either direction to Times Square or 5th Avenue shopping. The concierge guys were a great help with offering tips, directions and umbrellas. The Algonquin next door has a fantastic and historic lobby that is great for hanging out in and having a drink. When I heard their going rate that night matched our room rate, I regretted not booking there earlier, but I would stay at Sofitel again if I knew we would be guaranteed a quiet four walls! Parking across the street at the Hippodrome garage allows you great in and out privileges and saves money. The Red Flame a few doors down offers a classic diner breakfast if you can stand the wait to get in.
Tres Chique!
This was our first time to New York and I did not want to get it wrong. We chose to stay at the Sofitel for the weekend based on the comments from other Tripadvisor's and did not regret it. The hotel and staff were excellant, good service, understated elegance and rooms classically decorated. The location is good - 10 minute walk to the Empire State building and very near to Saks 5th Avenue. Booked via the internet, great deal at just over £100 per room per night. We will definately go back again!
Great weekend for two!
I took my wife to NYC for her birthday. Sofitel was great! We arrived early at 8:00am, and they checked us in. Hotel is nicely decorated, as is the room. New and very clean. Marble bathroom. A nice 2 block walk to Times Square. Room and hotel are quiet; a great place for two! We had a rain shower on our way to dinner. The conceirge gave us a large umbrella to take with us. The price is great, too; internet rates available at their website. I took and chance based largely on comments from other tripadvisor users, and was glad I did so. Will definetely consider staying there again!
Sofitel - Truly Impressed!!!
This was my first time staying in NYC, so I searched and searched on tbe Internet for accommodations at a decent hotel. I wanted a nice hotel with the right price. I read positive reviews on the Sofitel and decided to give it a chance. And for the price of $155.00 a night, that was definitely a steal in NYC. Well when I arrived at the hotel I was truly impressed. The hotel was beautiful. My room was very upscale and extremely clean. Also the staff was nice and friendly. So I had no complaints and when in NYC again, I will definitely be staying at the Sofitel.
Wonderful
Absolutely wonderful stay - quiet, clean, beautiful rooms and service. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!
Loved the Sofitel
My daughter and I won a trip to the Grammy's we stayed at the Sofitel it was within walking distance to many sights we were interested in. The staff members were all friendly and helpful the view from our room was great, not one complaint, we will definitely stay there again.
Beautiful Sofitel
The Sofitel is an excellent hotel with exceptional rooms. The rooms are immacualtely cleaned and the bathrooms are very large and beautiful. Also a great location two blocks from Times Square but at the same time very quiet. If I were going to NY again the Sofitel would definetely be the palce I stay.
Sofitel Delight
Sofitel proved to be an excellent place to stay. The room and the bathroom were very clean. The view didn't give much to say (all we saw was the back of buildings), but then again...it is New York and buildings is all you see anyway. The facilities were gorgeous and staff was very helpful and attentive. We ordered room service very late at night and still received speedy service. The only down side is that the food is a bit overpriced and glorified on the menu. I ordered an ice scream sundae (made to sound great) and only got vanilla ice scream with hershey's syrup. Despite the food, I do recommend this hotel if you are staying in New York. It is quiet, clean and the staff is great.
I'm a Sofitel regular
Whenever I stay in the city for a night the Sofitel is my first stop. Why? It's clean and comfortable, and the staff is helpful and friendly. I always feel comfortable there.
