Great location right in the middle of Broadbeach and surrounded by some very good bars and restaurants including Koi (where I had a late lunch of duck pancakes and Moroccan lamb) and Moo Moos which is right across the road from the hotel. Kurrawa Surf Life Savers Club and the beach is just a 5 minute walk away, and the lovely Cascade Park about 10 minutes walk. Rooms are comfortable and my balcony looked south over the beach and the water even though I didn't upgrade to an ocean view.

... I'm anticipating a lot of back and forth, round and round, kind of pointless conversation with a lot of bickering thrown in for good measure. I'm trying my best though to remain positive as I chant 'PMA... PMA... PMA...' over and over in my head like some kind of mental meditation.

So, I can't help but wonder... will this trip be worth the trade off?

      Fellow Americans at Bond Uni

We are currently on a two week holiday break from uni. Abby and I have decided to use this time to explore more of the country. Luckily, I knew an American girl named Grace that was also studying abroad in Australia! She is staying on the Gold Coast at Bond uni and was kind enough to let us spend a week with her.

This morning I managed to drag myself from bed in time to catch the sunrise over the ocean (see photo). I then quickly snuggled back in. So, we rarely go swimming whilst at home and, although we often visit the beach with Nelly, we never don our swimming costumes. However, we both LOVE water parks. One of the main reasons we visited the Gold Coast was so we could visit 'Wet n Wild'. It may surprise many that for someone who can't swim, dislikes crowds and has a bad ...

... really good! He recommended to us to do the Toloona Circuit as it really was very good and so we made a new plan to go off and do a walk in the morning before moving on to Springbrook National Park.

Fri 8th Nov - We got up and had some breakfast before packing up the tent and loading everything into the car. We had decided to go with the man's recommendation and walk the Toloona Circuit, but it was a 17.5km round trip and we didn't want the next person who had ...

      Whale of a time!

... It had also stopped raining, hurrah! We walked around Surfers Paradise until our tour began. They 100% guaranteed seeing whales so we were fairly confident and pretty excited. They said it wasn't going to be as rough as they had first thought but we could buy sea sickness tablets to not chance it. We saw this as a scam and didn't take any. Oh god I wish we had!! It was SO choppy, as soon as we left the river the ocean was heaving. At least ...
