... and a little door to a minaret and balcony where she used to sit. Lots of photos of her here in the '20's and '30's made it very real. She wrote a book called 'My Lifeas a Crown Princess' which was apparently very successful in the UK and USA. I'll be looking out for it.
Back then (minor brush with the law when we were pulled over for driving without headlights) for an hour on the beach - lovely late afternoon sun - and now doing this before going out to eat.
... is rubbish at home!
Now back again for evening spruce up before dinner. Hoping to find somewhere a bit more sedate tonight. Last night we walked along the main street and the sea front, but it was mostly loud, busy bars. I think this is the kind of place that party animals would love - out at 11pm, party all night and barely see daylight before they start again. Obviously, just made for us!
... a sit up and beg bike for me next. I wonder if they do them for spinning!
Fab things to note about this hotel: all the staff have been to charm school and they have lots of free L'Occitaine toiletries. A week ago I wouldn't have noticed, but, although the Bulgarian people are really nice, they don't smile much, and so far, 'free toiletries' as described on the Internet has meant a teeny bottle of shampoo and a toilet roll.
... hadn't got to the stage where any shape or pattern was recognisable, but it was still interesting to watch for a while.
On our walk back to the hostel we stopped at a sweetcorn stall for a cup each of sweetcorn mixed with butter, salt and grated parmesan cheese - delicious!
We finished the day with some dinner at the place we'd been recommended last night and then some internet time back at the hostel.
... of peace and calm. I was so, so glad we came here. I couldn't help but think that if this was in the UK, it would be packed!
The peace and calm was marvellous, but Dave still managed to have a minor but ironic accident. In the main part of the site there is a stone circle which is supposed to bring people luck; Dave went in and then the moment he stepped out of it again, he stepped on something sharp - ...
