... best friends by the time we left... 7 Euro well spent!!

Fri 13 Nov
Drizzle greeted us this morning so we got on our wet weather gear and headed off for a walk along the coast to Portofino which was 5km away. The wind blew away any cobwebs we may have had but it blew the rain away so we were happy. The walk followed the coast where we looked into the deep blues ...
Santa Margherita Ligure, Italian Riviera, Italy darrenhough74... our seats there was a couple who was seated in them and it was funny because there was barely anyone on the train but we did not want to take the chance of sitting somewhere else and taking someone else's seat. Well this lady gave us an earful of how she thought it was ridiculous that they had to move considering there were about 50 other open seats in our cabin, but she's like if these are your seats you better take them. She went on for about 2 minutes while ...
Genoa, Italian Riviera, Italy konaduy... of the city and had the BEST focaccia bread ever! After we left the group we had lunch at a little place with outside cafe seats and it was terrific. Rachel had a spicy pizza, Il Diablo and I had a zucchini tart. Then we wandered back to the ship and now Rachel is at the gym and I am updating my blog! We are a lucky group here! Tonight is casual night thank goodness. More to come!
Genoa, Italian Riviera, Italy mamafeathersDestination 404

km197'196

A wonderful winding route via a inland section have lead me from Pisa to the coastline around Genova. But since in that part of the environment it was very hard to find a spot for bushcamping I took the toll freeway to prevent to get stuck in the chaotic traffic of Genova and headed north into the highlands of the northern region of Genova. A beatiful spot at the top of a mountain has provided perfect views to sunset and sunrise, but a bloody cold night!
You must pick a gap in between the trucks and/or traffic in the slow lane to weave in with. This is not that difficult, as I have said the truck traffic in this lane is moving around 50mph.

Stepping Out: As we all have heard you must be cautious when you step out into the fast lane. Most of the time this is not a problem. But here’s the catch. The cruise speed of the fast lane is between 95 – 105 mph. At this ...
Santa Margherita Ligure, Italian Riviera, Italy travelingmoores... began. The traffic was brutal and it was a hot sunny day of 30°C with no wind, so we were sweating like pigs. The traffic lights made things worse. Every traffic light at an intersection was followed with a cross walk light every 20m, and no…they weren’t smart enough to synch the lights up. So it was stop…go…stop…go… ;you get the picture. Add to the mix the pokey French drivers and the crazy ass moped riders and you had a recipe ...
Genoa, Italian Riviera, Italy kochwebb... could see the entire city, Genova - the harbor, and Nice, the waterfall. The train tickets cost 62 euro total (there and back) and all together (attractions, meals, postcards, wine) totaled to 200 euro. Not bad for a weekend trip to two major harbors/coast lines! Friday morning we left for Genova at 8:30 am from the Santa Maria Novella train station. We made it to the station with enough time to grab a bite to eat for breakfast, the fastest we found, of course, was ...
Genoa, Italy ailleagan... very sweet, because vineyards are very close to the sea and the weather is always warm and sunny. Nevertheless, grape production is not the only activity that links man to the land. Along side vineyards, you can see lemon production - very famous in Monterosso -, olive groves and vegetable gardens. The cultivated landscape gives the Cinque Terre National Park a very evocative appearance, characterised by rugged mountain terrain with its ...
Cinque Terre, Italy foodnutCinque Terre is one of the main places I wanted to visit on this trip. Cinque Terre consists of 5 small fishing villages each perched on the side of rocky cliffs hugging the Mediterreanean sea. The views are spectacular and best when you hike on their trails beside the sea from town to town. I was not disappointed. The five towns in order are Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Manarola. We lived in Riomaggiore at an illegal hostel (hotel turned hostel without the proper ...
