Great choice for our one night stay. Warm, cosy room with a great powerful shower to wake us up in the morning.

We spent the day exploring around the area and dozing in the springs. I was starting to feel a little sick, but ignored it and tried to enjoy myself. The next day, however, I woke up feeling absolutely haggard. My joints were aching, skin sore and throat tight. My mood was also really flat which worried me a bit.
I had a chat to Icecave and we decided it was best I headed back to town, away from the damp, ...

... like. After seeing just one small glimpse of the canyon in a brochure we just had to check it out. It was one of those out of the way places that looked very much worth the extra driving time it took to get there. And it was!
The canyon was in total an 8 mile hike that took you through the winding and narrowing/widening canyon with the dried up river bed acting as the trail itself. Seeing as we did not have time to do all 8 miles we only did about 3 ...

We went through Cisco, a ghost town that died with the steam train. 18-inch pizza at New Castle and bedding down with Mormons at Econolodge. Sunday was a driving day. We crossed the Rockies over independence Pass with ...

On Digger's last day we drove up through the high country north of Jefferson up over Georgia Pass (11,585ft on the Continental Divide) in his 'Lincoln Navigator' hire car - he had to change from his BMW 740 after the sunroof exploded!!!!. Test fired a few weapons......
Very pristine environment above the tree line. Not a good place to be in the middle of winter.....
Beautiful views and the Aspen trees just beginning to change colour as winter approaches....

Our meander continued as we followed a series of scenic byways that took past several of Colorado's "fourteeners," the mountains that climb above 14,000-feet. Jack had prepared a travel binder filled with essential travel information: Best Campgrounds of Colorado, Scenic Byways (25!), Festivals and Special Events, and Wineries.

The most useful section was Scenic Byways and, as we have meandered around The Centennial State, we have ...
