... kicking Blake's butt in bowling every night, much to his demise.    Obertraun also offers quick access to the area's biggest selling point: the Dachstein cable car. This very progressive, modern, and expensive cable car takes you thousands of feet high to the top of the alps. There is a resort up there, multiple lodges, skiing and hiking areas, the famous "Five Fingers" lookout, two big caves, panoramic glacial views, peaks everywhere, and if you're lucky (which we were!) ...

We left Vienna under beautiful sunny skies for the Melk Abbey. The drive to the Abbey at Melk took a little longer than anticipated as Miles routed us for a tour of the Austrian countryside that we had not planned. Lovely, rolling hills of farmland that created a lovely patchwork quilt. Golden crops of dried corn stocks, cow pastures dotted with cows and sheep and new soil turned for the next crop. The Abbey was in the town of Melk and easy to find as it sits prominity on a ...

... a bunch of extra places for like a nano-second. We knew we would have to cross a lake by ferry to get to our little town, so we were looking for a lake at about the time we were supposed to be here. That was helpful. With all the extra little stops, it wasn't on time though. Only a little late. The trip took about 4 hrs.
A little excitement for us tonight. I had just started typing this and all the power went out. Pitch black in ...
