On the advice of our new friend Alex we decided to head down to ground zero for the memorial service for 9/11.

Since I had been awake since 1am watching episodes on my iPad, I was rearing to go by the time 7am came around and Vaughan decided to wake up. I am incredibly jealous of his ability to adapt to the change in time zones and sleep through anything. My body clock was firmly set to London time and took the next 2 days to finally adjust.

... do not do the views of Lower Manhattan and the Manhattan Bridge justice. There was quite a lot of graffiti along the walkway but not much of it was nasty. Our initial plan was to walk the bridge and pick up the Brooklyn loop of the hop-on-hop-off bus on the other side, however the walk across did not take long and looking at the stops on the loop there didn't seem to be much to see on the Brooklyn side so we turned around ...
