... phew!

Getting to my hostel in Clarke Quay on Singapore's underground was very easy but I did start to get a sore throat and a slight temperature that night meaning I took it easy for the next 24 hours only going out for food and to the pharmacy. By the next evening though I felt better and met up with my friend Lauren, who was working here as a teacher. ... breathe there without sucking in the smell of rotten food and sewerage and also the population here is incredibly large 34 million. So far this trip is going very well for me.

... amazed! A spacious room with king-size bed, lounge area, and double doors into the large bathroom. The view from the 25th floor window was a city view with both the KL Tower and the Petronas Twin Towers visible (well, only one of the twin towers due to someone having inconsiderately built another building between it and the Marriott)!! Once we arrived at Kuala Lumpur airport it was really easy to then find a bus to take us to Chinatown where our hostel was. It was a little more difficult to find the hostel though once we were off the bus and we spent about a hour wandering around Chinatown which was interesting but we couldn't wait to drop off our bags. Once freshened up we had a walk around Chinatown. It was a really busy area with lots of street markets selling all types of fake merchandise ...

... towers. We sit and watch the people coming and going, jogging, playing eating and sitting. From time to time we go back in to the mall for some ac, a cold drink and just to see the latest show. The scale of the mall is immense and there is so much to see. In fact we found out later that we missed the Petronus art gallery, oops.

We have only scratched the surface of this shopping metropolis, and we are looking forward to seeing ...
