... in. We stopped in at one of the bakeries recommended from the tour and holy **** it was amazing. You can go out the back and see the twenty or so bakers making their delicacies. Smells amazing. Everything was ridiculously expensive though, so didn't end up buying anything. The tour finished at the very grand Hofburg palace.

We had been going for quite some time by now so we did a bit more running and jumping and had a quick search for an area away from the tourist ...

... in our room. Travelling really makes you appreciate the little things, like good water pressure and fresh bread. There is a lady in the building next door with golden curly hair who likes to dance in her window. It is very very cute.

Joanna’s friends, whom we’d hung out with in Prague, were also in Vienna. They’d heard you can see a show at the Opera House for 3 euros (for a standing ticket) if you line up 1.5 hours beforehand. So we ...

Be ready to watch hubby eat yummy things off limits to you, like Tiramisu in Venice (it has raw eggs). 7. You will only be able to do about 6 hours of sightseeing before you need to go back to your room for a rest. Hubby will get grumpy about this on occasions. I'm back. The Best Little Hotel in Europe

    from

Great rooms with real A/C, roomy spotlessly clean bathrooms, cable TV with free English movie channels, a lift to take you up to your room, and a delicious breakfast. Staff were also very friendly. Located just outside of the Ringstrasse, but close enough to walk to everything you want to see. I think it ranks as one of the best little hotels I've stayed at in Europe.

    Very good for the price

    from

This is a lovely hotel that offers excellent service for the price. Location can't be beat. We had one of the balcony rooms (there are only four) and if you can get one it is WELL worth the extra expense. Very small staff so don't expect a porter, etc. Breakfast is excellent and, although small, the staff is very attentive and responsive. Overall an excellent value, a great location and very good service. We were very satisfied.

Nice small hotel, but no luxury

    Vienna: Das Tyrol

    Great stay in Tyrol

    from

I just left the hotel after a three day stay in Vienna. I was so impressed with the service. Everyone was so nice. I lost my luggage for two days to the cesspool called CDG in Paris. I arrived in Vienna in flip flops and sweats and had no clothes. It was with thier assistance I was able to get new clothes, changed and find a place to buy toiletries and even ibuprofen on a day when most pharmacies were closed.

    Loved the Das Tyrol

    from

We have just returned from the Das Tyrol. It was everything and more one could hope for from a small luxury hotel. Perfect location, friendly and helpful staff. I would diffently return if ever in Vienna again.

    Very comfortable

    from

Stayed here recently for two nights on a weekend break. Was considering staying at Le Meridien and Hotel Sacher but put off by exorbitant prices (plus breakfast excluded at Le Meridien). Das Tyrol was a very good compromise on a more discreet, smaller and intimate scale. Very nicely furnished, clean, cosy and comfortable hotel. Had a single room (with two single beds pushed together), nice sparkling white bathroom with power shower, instant hot water and heated towel rack. Nice turndown touch of Suchard chocolates on pillow. Buffet breakfast spread to suit every palate (particularly variety of jams, style of cooked eggs and beverages - and for the bon viveurs free flow prosecco!). The hotel has a sauna and steambath facility - great for a winddown after a day of sightseeing in minus degree centigrade weather - but unfortunately did not have time to use it. Location of hotel excellent - 2 mins from nearest metro (Museumsquartier) and directly opposite the Leopold, MUMOK and Kunstorisches museums, 4 mins from nearest tram strop at the Ring.

Das Tyrol - modern with warmth

    from

I stayed ten days at this very fine, comfortable hotel. My room was a good-sized junior suite facing the busy shopping street. With the windows shut there was little noise in the day and at night none. The hotel is very near the new museum quartier and short walking distance to the opera house. The staff is wonderful and the breakfast is superb. But what's unique about this hotel is its collection of modern art in the foyer, the breakfast room and on all the floors. It's worth a visit just for that. I will definitely stay there again.

    Had an Enjoyable Stay

    from

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Das Tyrol. The hotel is well-located on one of the city's main shopping street and less than a five minute walk to the Museum Quartier. I stayed at Room 35, which was a more than decent-sized room for single occupancy. The room, including the bathroom, appears to have been recently renovated. The buffet breakfast was ample (coffee was good!) and the friendly and cheerful breafast staff made up for it. They now have a free internet corner for those wishing access to the internet. As this is a small hotel, the lobby and elevator are proportionately small. The only issue I have was that during my stay, the building adjacent to it was being renovated - so one could hear the construction work start at 7 am! Otherwise, had a generally pleasant stay at this hotel.

    Good five-star value

    from

If you can't stay right in the heart of things or don't want to spend the money but crave the five-star extras, this is a good option. Located about 10 minutes away from everything off of a main street, this tiny hotel is clean, quiet, elegant and a good value at about $200/night. Rooms are definitely small but well appointed, clean and filled with all the usual perks, like robes, slippers, mini-bar, TV, etc. Breakfast was great. No bar or restaurant. Note that this hotel is five minutes from the city's best museums.

    Small but nice

    from

I stayed at this hotel last June. It is the only "Small Luxury Hotel" in Vienna, and small are most of the guest rooms, some even tiny. They are, however, well appointed with amenities like room safe, bathrobe, slippers and free internet hook-up. Access to the guest floors is by a very old and slow elevator or the stairs. No restaurant, just a breakfast room. The breakfast buffet was good.

Personal Services are limited. Staff friendly and helpful though. The hotel seems to have some regular guests but my impression was that it could be doing better with the help of a professional manager.
