      ... an ocean pool, a fairly impressive diving board and several sauna huts. No one was about though, summer is over and there is not a soul around. We started this gap year journey because we had enjoyed annual ski holidays in the northern hemisphere for so many years, and often wondered what the places we visited would be like in summer, and here we are in Scandinavia in September and summer is already over, imagine only having 2 months of summer a year!

      ... Kalmar museum. The glassblower’s premises are situated within the castle walls and consist of a covered archway, giving a very atmospheric venue for him to show off his artwork.       ... Apparently, the residents of the island have collaborated in restoring these structures – they are EVERYWHERE. Also everywhere are small churches that look they were all built from the same set of plans. Between the similarity of homes, road networks and churches, every new town we passed looked like one we had already been in!
