    ... all using the name Amana and a second word. South Amana, East Amana, West Amana, North Amana, High Amana, and Middle Amana. The residents received housing, medical care, meals, schooling, etc.Jobs were assigned but no one received a wage.

    We enjoyed walking the streets and looking in the shops. We had lunch in the Ox Yoke Inn and enjoyed a fine German dish of Wiener ...

    ... up the landscape. We passed through many little towns with grand names like Marseilles, Ottawa, Peru and Sheffield. With populations of 1015, 970 or similar.     ... weather forecast is not too good as storms are predicted along our path.

    Our destination is Amana Colonies in Amana, IA. This is an historic German town that we stopped briefly on our trip to Alaska in 2012. The town closes up at 5:00 pm so we decided to come back and stay a few nights to check it out. More tomorrow on our venture into town.

    First whole day at the Rally in Sturgis. What a busy day! Up at dawn. Hot water, good deal. Love it when the days starts reasonable. OK. Things to remember if I come back. Get a room or at least a site with power. The camping is free, they have showers, but only the real payers have water and power. How.small a generator do they make.
