    ... much-anticipated 35th anniversary cruise to Alaska turned into a driving trip to Oregon that started with a family celebration in Napa.     ... crazy aunty?!?! Anyway they were gorgeous people and had a great conversation with them all. Talking travel, weather, San Fran, Florida, and of course Oz. We made it back to dry land, took our bikes back, and with the cable car still not running, we sat on the replacement bus for 20 minutes, no driver, of course.     ... on Santa Clara to get coffee. When we were there, the cafe claimed to sell Starbucks. I decided that I wanted to get a caramel frappe; it was so watery and they didn't have whip creme. I went off complaining to Mohini and Caitlin about how much I was so eager to get a real Starbucks in America. Then a girl named Julia showed up for a bit.

    ... Canyon overnight ( courtesy of the same Govenor ) with some breathtaking scenery reminiscent of WA's pinnacles.
    We travelled through Cedar Canyon to wards Vegas, before driving through Death Valley, Yosemite N P ( they can't close it as US 120 bisects it ), but we were told not to get out of the car....
    We have spent 36 hours with friends in the Bay Area of San Jose and cannot believe the food and entertainment.
