... an hour walk and it was surprisingly hot outside at 20degreesC so by the end we were both sweaty and tired. When we got back to the apartment we took a nap and this time it was actually a short one. Today we drove through the center of the park. We did a short trail walk in the afternoon and then headed to Clingman's dome (6643ft high) for sunset - around 5:30. ... Great Smokey Mountains so we left our car parked near Knoxville and piled in together again

The scenery here was breathtaking and we drove a partial loop until we stopped in an open field for a picnic lunch. Unfortunately we had a long drive ahead to our next destination so Robbie drove us back to the car and we headed off.

We really loved this part of Tennessee, my only regret is not being hungry enough to stop at one of the many roadside ...
