It was soon time for both Carol's to go to work so we went to the park across the street from IBIS and waited for the bus to arrive. Felipe joined us as he works with them also. Roni showed up and took many photos, he is a master with a camera.

Today I learned to laugh at myself. No need for embarassment when you are in another country, right? I went to Ambulatorio to interview my 3 patients. I called for Adelia (A-day-lee-a)…no response. Then Verginia tells me that it is pronounced A-day-lea! Whoo! I tried again, and she came with her daughter. She was soo cute! I enjoyed interviewing her and hearing her story. Then ...

Sad news...Paula´s father passed away today. Apparently he was sick with a possible tumor. They will actually bury him today because the doctor says his body cannot stay in the hospital due to edema and fluids exiting his body...

... the money. The bank was inside the Prefeitura, which is basically the city hall/government center of Campinas. Outside were many people ´em greve´. These were city employees on strike because of a lack of enough pay. It was peaceful and quite interesting. There was food, chairs, and they had set up a coffin...and people had candles as if they were at someone´s wake ...

... for me because my shuttle doesn't arrive until 8:20, and I
still don't have a bus card. I ended up meeting Bete halfway on Friday
morning and we arrived at the hospital around 7:40. We interviewed 4
patients because the other 5 had not shown up. The secretaries are
finally warming up to us and made a few suggestions: that we give them
a list of the patients to be interviewed and they ...

The greatest three Weeks When I have been in Ouro Preto and this is located in a mountain area, it started raining all the time, all day. And because the university there was on a stike for allready 3 month and all my friends left the city, I was really a kind of depressed. So a great friend from Campinas told me that I could visit him in Campinas, an one million city near Sao Paulo, for the last three weeks I have in Brasil. Mhmm ...
