      ... a while since they were in business. It's sad to see these mom and pop shops and hotels crumbling down. I guess when interstate 40 went in, folks could travel faster and stopped taking route 66. Small town America gone.

      ... about an Everest expedition gone wrong. On a side note I'd like to try scaling some tall mountains in the future. I'm a dreamer, but I have a knack for making things happen, so who knows. I've climbed mount Whitney and could seriously notice the thin air,and it was so cold! Whitney, the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states is 14,500 ft. half the altitude of Everest.       ... a pub (bar) the overweight, cross eyed barmaid is purely there to serve the beer, but after several, you start to gloss over the fact that she has to stand on a beer case to see over the counter and the fact that you have to help her add up each round (two beers at 2.50 is 5) can be overlooked and if it is her lucky night, you might be asking her how she likes her eggs in the morning.

      ... Along the shoreline one can find steep bluffs, tree lined banks, open farmlands and level fields. You can visit the lock and dam one mile southeast.

      This campground is right near the Arkansas Wine Trail along 186 and 64 and the town of Altus which is the Wine Capitol of Arkansas. Nice area and an easy drive to Hot Springs down the Moonshine Scenic Byway route 7. There are six COE managed camping areas on Ozark Lake. Nice overnight at this ...
