Today, we woke up around 7:30 and got our "executive" continental
breakfast at the hotel. It was pretty decent and the kids enjoyed it.
We got on the road around 9 am and headed West on I-40 in Arkansas. We
drove through the whole state and into Oklahoma. That was a long drive
- there's not much along the highway there.

Another wet, drizzly day today. We drove from the east side of Oklahoma to the west side, past the home towns of singers Roger Miller and Garth Brooks, and astronaut Tom Stafford. Oklahoma has been in a drought situation for the past three years, with some farmers needing to sell off their livestock. The country reminds of Saskatchewan, with its flat fields and occasional oil pump. But here in Oklahoma we saw cotton fields ...
... not see the end of the road in both directions as it was dead straight into the distance and not a car in sight.
Had a bit of shopping therapy today as we stopped at a Walmart (some CDs!)
Tomorrow we go through Amarillo as its the next big town - maybe we'll ask someone 'is this the way to .......'

WE left Carlsbad this morning in sage brush country and I expected this all day, boy was I surprised. Once we got out of oil country we hit some of the best agriculture we have seen. Machinery not as big as Nebraska but Lots and lots of cows both dairy and beef. NM ranks #7 in milk production, lots of cheese ...
... our Sirius XM radio...yesterday we listened to Classic Rewind, great songs! Today was country and we heard songs that took me back to vacationing with my parents when I was a kid...must of heard 5 or 6 Alabama songs!!! Made for great memories today as well.
Texas so far has been full of cows and has lost about a three thousand bugs, thanks to my windshield...tink, tink, clunk...your welcome! Rise and shine...tomorrow's destination, Memphis TN!
