If there were rivers from the Basin it would then flow out to sea BUT there are no rivers so it sits in lakes in the Basin where the water evaporates leaving selenite crystals.     We were back on the road again heading West. Texas proved to have much better highways sight-wise. Surprisingly, Florida was a pretty boring state to drive through. Texas had massive highway systems, lots of cities, and roads that literally cut through mountains. We drove in between massive walls of mountains.

    Leaving Texas we chanced upon the McDonald Observatory, a major player in the game of stars. Three telescopes keep a team of about 80 support crew busy setting up and maintaining these sky spies for astronomers who book time for their studies.
