We traveled from Aunt Peggy & Sheldon's house to Henderson, NC. I rode criss-cross applesauce all the way to our hotel. Mom drove. It rained the first half of the way.

Aunt Roz's family is from Hartwell, GA. We crossed over lake Hartwell on our way into SC. In SC, we went passed Clemson University.

Uncle Grady was a cheerleader for Clemson University more than 50 years ago.

Sunday morning we woke up and packed up our stuff. We had to change the sheets, make the beds, and take out the trash to avoid a cleaning fee. Once finished, we headed west on US-64 to NC-215 near Rosman. Driving north for about 10 miles, we turned right onto Courthouse Creek Road (Forest Service Road 140). Then we finished up the trail and took the old logging road back to Augur Hole Trail. The hike back to the parking lot is almost all uphill, so it was a bit ...

... the mountain. Eventually weaving through an area with a lot more vegetation, slightly jungle-like but without the heat. We took our packs off for a bit in order to get a little squirrly on a a mini boulder problem. It was slightly sketchy especially in hiking boots but it was so nice to touch real rock again...:)

Our next pit stop was along the trail when Bryan heard rustling in a bush. He declared it a bear (more likely a squirrel) ...

      Are we there, yet?

Didn't get a chance to upload an entry yesterday. It's really Tuesday as I write this.

We left Knoxville in the morning and drove to Greenville, South Carolina. Had a nice visit with Gloria and Dennis. Betty's sister and her son. Both were very gracious and friendly. It was a nice visit, but we forgot to take pictures. We're still kicking ourselves over that.

      The drive from ...
