One of the reasons we wanted to stay in York was so we could go to Durham and Lincoln. So after doing our laundry (more about that later) we got on the train 2 stops back up the line to the ancient cathedral town of Durham. When I went there in ’75, my mother asked me to find the Venerable Bede when I went to Durham. I was young and silly and didn’t want to admit that I didn’t know who he was. Now I do and love him so. He was around Durham before the ...
Durham, England, United Kingdom auldsod... bless him, so we all shivered a little - but it wasn't too cold. I suggested he seek some help, which he did from the friendly guys at Motorhome Facts on the interweb when we got back home - so hopefully no more problems with him controlling the temperature from now on.
I found the site to be quite a good one...nice hard standing, not too ...
... 5 pounds, and they have a bar with pound pints! The rain has even held off enough for our tent to dry out. We’re in heaven!
It’s strange how your perceptions on things change when you’re on the road. I remember stressing over what to eat one night and walking up and down the main street of town about 4x trying to figure it out. Now it’s just like: food substance - wow, we won’ ...
... traffic to content with! But this was not a wind that dried out our clothes. This was a sting-you-in-the-eyeball type of rain - wonderful at accelerated speeds! In the next little town we stopped for a little break and the rain kept coming. But this time it was straight down rain - what a nice change! This must have been the pleasant weather everyone was speaking about!
Brian kept reminding me that this was just a part of the ...

At the end of the day Jeff and I have made this decision and if we feel upset than it's our own fault. However, it makes you feel pretty horrible when you make other people feel so upset and make them cry.

... plants. She proceeded to talk in barely above a whisper and said she wasn't going to get the microphone because her voice carries easily in the wind. I'm not sure where it was being carried to but it wasn't anywhere near us. While she was talking, if you can even call it that, there was another woman talking on a cell phone and rustling these bags around. I don't think Kevin was paying attention at all because the fountain happened to go off and he said "Look!" in a fairly ...

No men in traditional dress: Everywhere there were women and children dressed up to allow for a photo opportunity and even in the towns going around their normal business it was always women. The only place where men dressed traditionally, apart from the Cusco procession, was Taquile island where they knitted their hats. Peruvians are very small: I felt like a giant in ...
Darlington, United Kingdom gillianlewis196... it at Sandringham in 1995 and at the State Apartments of Windsor Castle in 1997. And that same quality existed at Holyroodhouse. The quality comes from the artifacts that are still in the rooms. Much (if not all) of the furnishings are rather old. In fact, I don't remember a thing in any room being more recent than the 1920's. It's understandable that these rooms would want to be kept in a form of historical preservation. But, one has to remember that they are still ...
