We got up late after a fitful sleep! Headed off to the Nasa Space Center. Amazing history of space travel and lots of fun things for the kids. A real live space shuttle on site, gives perspective on its immense size and the how astronauts can make there way to space. Precision is a must! What a great day! Off to bed as we pack for a vacation on our vacation...Gatlinburg, Tennessee (borders the Great Smoky Mountains National Park), here we ...

Holy guacamole! We just ran through Alabama! Right now, we are at 352 miles, which doesn't exactly land us in a town, but it does land us right past the Alabama / Tennessee border. This area and the past 20-30 miles have special meaning to me, because they are where my Granny and Daddy Joe (my father's parents) grew up and met.

OK so we are several months later than the fest, but ...

Oh, my word! What a glorious day after a cold, damp, dark one.The temperature today reached the mid seventies. It was perfect weather to be in a marina and take a long walk. The neighborhood around the marina is lovely. Most of the homes have kept their trees, making it seem as if one was in a state park. So I walked the entire neighborhood, looking at homes, docks, fall foliage and the lake. It gave me plenty of time to ponder the odd sign I saw in the ...

... for it when she told me.

We got up fairly early and ate a leisurely breakfast before tackling Nickajack. The weather was excellent after the fog burned off and when the sun came out it was very pleasant indeed. We were just around the corner from Nickajack Dam so we were into the chamber almost immediately. The lock master was very young, social and pleasant, spending a good deal of time admiring our boat and asking ...
