    ... coming and going... I asked for water... an at first a bit grouchy worker.. blurted out 'What do you want'? I explained to him my plight of thirst...

    anyway he wound up being friendly after all and took me in one of the company trucks to a well.. and I pumped out some potable water...

    ... they make us feel so very much at home, and we enjoy our time with Kathy and Gary and the extended family.
    On our last night (Labor Day night), we had the added excitement of a tornado warning just as we were all going to bed (Gary was asleep already!) - so we gathered down in the basement for a half hour - no harm, no foul!

    ... city: it was 96 degrees today and the ice cream shop was closed. Crazy, no? Free parking though, which might be enough to redeem them.

    From there it was off to Defiance, Missouri, which is approximately 25 miles upstream from St. Charles. This is where DB spent the last years of his life. The home where he lived for the last few years and where he died (three weeks before his 86th birthday) ...

    ... cancer. That is definite, good news!” Gene and I are still celebrating. I am feeling great. My recovery from the surgery was very easy.
    We go back this Tuesday, October 11th for a postoperative appointment to discuss the pathology report in detail with Dr. Margenthaler and what the next step in my treatment will be.
