The group had to go back to their wives and jobs, so I changed venues to Aspen and the glorified motel called the Sky Hotel. As it has been all season, my snow luck continues with a foot of new snow that rolls in time to make 28,500 ft of vertical quite fluffy.
Once ensconced in our space in Basalt, we visited Larry and Kathy at their newly-rebuilt hotel in Aspen which was, in Kathy's words, "Just darling!" It was a pleasant ride climbing the mountains leaving Estes Park behind. It had not long broken the dawn and a beautiful Elk was standing on the verge road-side, he looked at us as if to say we disturb his peace.
