... huge and the underlying bush very established. We trekked through the dense bush for about 10 minutes before we saw our first monkey. They were up in the top of the tree canopy and were very agile, leaping from branch to branch and tree to tree. We saw blue monkeys, squirrels, baboons and some others. After another 30 minutes or so we could hear the chimps in the distance. The path varied a lot and sometimes we were on a well trod route but other times pushing our way ...

There were 19 in total with the silverback Munyinya, his 6 girlfriends, a few adolescent males (black backs that would one day become silverbacks and have to leave the group) the rest were young ones, the youngest being 3 weeks old. ... time to adjust to the truck routine and learn how everything works! Nevertheless, we have been to some beautiful places and had some special experiences. I caught up with the truck in Nairobi and met up with the other people on the trip, the majority of whom have been on the truck since last November, having started in Morocco and travelled down the West Coast and back up the East. In fact, I was the only person joining who was new to the group so I am very ...

    Training Day

A travel blog entry by danielharper on Apr 26, 2015

This morning I woke up having slept relatively well most of the night. That isn't saying much, though, is it? I welcomed my coffee, and I tried to enjoy the breakfast. There was plenty to eat, but it just wasn't appealing to my stomach. I think I was spoiled by the Fairview and the Memling breakfasts. Now, it's hard to go back to strange breakfast items like baked beans and spinach and odd sauces. I nibbled a bit, but I mostly enjoyed ...
