I've been staying in various types of lodging, (Though not even in the name of research will I crawl into a capsule), all leaving shoes at the door. But in these last two days, I'm staying at a business hotel, as I want my shoes already on my feet as I begin the dash to the airport. It's the kind of place where, in the States you'd get as breakf...
Fukuoka, Kyushu-Okinawa, Japan travlingal
My first impression of Fukuoka was neon. Though my body knew it was the middle of the night it was used to, I was able to get yen from an ATM, buy a subway ticket, and get to the 100 year old inn where I had reservations. Enjoyed the hot communal (gender separated) bath, but not as much the ********** and buckwheat pillow.
The next mornin...
Here we go again, off to lands unknown (to us, anyway) with our lives stuffed into luggage. The last time we do this will not be too soon! I suppose it's the price of an adventurous lifestyle.
Speaking of which, we are currently in Nogata, Fukuoka which is probably the *least* adventurous town ever. It consists of rice fields and... rice...

INT RO:
Japan is famous for robots! - especially humanoid robots, even very sophisticated walking robots. I built walking robots in college as an Electrical Engineering student. So, naturally I had to find ...
Fukuoka – because an Irishman told me so.....
When I first arrived in Tokyo. I met a crazy Irishman who had just returned from a mythical place called Fukuoka. He spent the entire night telling me about the place where everybody says hello in the street, and the women come up to you in the bars. I was expecting to get off the train ...
Fukuoka, Kyushu-Okinawa, Japan planetvaleI began my trip with a seven hour journey south to Iwakuni, just south of Hiroshima. I was looking forward to seeing the arched bridge that the town is famous for, but other than that I was looking at it as a stopover destination more than anything else. To my complete surprise, it turned out to be one of the most beautiful places I`d visited so...
Fukuoka, Japan richQuestions I woke up on Monday morning thinking about other things I could do with my life. I thought maybe world history would work better for me. I always found world history to be an audacious and clumsy subject that dealt in too many generalities, but it's a similar field to Korean history and might not require so much travel. I'd ponder this...
Fukuoka, Japan jsc31.10.2004 So I will now start on my second day. I had gone to bed at 10 p.m and did not wake up until 10 a.m. the next day, and took my time in getting up. In fact, by having kept awake until so late, I did not really feel any jet lag any more. I was worried that the jet lag would destroy my first week. I might be a bit repetitive from time to ...
Fukuoka, Japan reisenderI visited Fukuoka for All Japan Mission University Judo Championship held in Seinangakuin University. The hometown of a senior student was Tsukushino and his father was a mayor of the city. He invited all the club members to a hotel and gorgeous dinner. Although my university didn't achieve a good result in the judo meeting, I enjoyed the travel...
