... 088km in about 19 hours to Irkutsk. Irkutsk is about 70km from the southwest end of lake baikal, and a good starting spot in that region. Luckily we have until October 7th when we take the next train to Ulaanbaator, Mongolia, and will thus have plenty of time to explore the lake baikal. So you can look forward to some great pictures and stories from the deepest and by far oldest (25 million years) fresh water lake on earth and also a UNESCO world heritage site.

Breakfast in the restaurant carriage for the first time this morning. Start of day two of this trip from Tyumen to Severobaikalsk. Sometime during the early morning we crossed from Western Siberia to Eastern Siberia.
