I was born and raised in Calgary, home of the C-train. This is the only train I have ever taken. If the train doors are open, the train stays put and the conductor yells at you over the intercom to clear the doorway.

Not so in Italy.

We had a stopover in Verona to get onto the train in Bolzano. The stopover was very short, and I was a bit ahead of my mom so I figured I'd load my bags, which are heavy, on while she caught up. my bags were all aboard and I was waiting ...
Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy bronwhynAt 2:48pm the train arrived in Bolzano/Bozen as indicated. Northern Italy is quite hilly with some great landscape for one's viewing enjoyment. I was quite surprised by the city of Bolzano. The very first thing I did was purchase a SuperEnalotto ticket! 146.9 million euros, who could say no? My next train was not until 4:32pm, I went out to have a look at this city. This city is close to Germany and has a huge German influence. That is ...
Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy monkeytoes... returning to Cortina, Cindy slept off an upset stomach while the kids relaxed and I did a 10-mile run exploring south of Cortina. We all went on a stroll (hike is a bad word now) afterwards to enjoy the first extended period of sunshine since we arrived in Europe a week ago.
Cortina D'Ampezzo, Veneto, Italy brian796... were gone, Cindy and Alycia walked around town some and went to a market next to the hotel. They grabbed pizza at a new restaurant, which all of us returned to that night for a nice dinner. Trey and I ate several meals apiece in a single sitting to make up for the energy expended during the day. We have a newfound appreciation for the bikers competing daily in the Tour de France this month.

Later, we would discover that we had missed the unmarked turnoff for the falls. I made it out almost all the way to Paso di Limo before realizing the mistake. I backtracked to Cindy and we explored the wilderness some, finding some ...
Cortina D'Ampezzo, Veneto, Italy brian796... addressed to Juliette from lovers around the world. Some real tear jerkers! We strolled though the marble paved streets through several piazze such as the beautiful Piazza Erbe and the grand Piazza Bra surrounding the ancient Roman Amphitheatre which now houses one of the world's most renowned and certainly most athmospheric opera stages: the open air Arena di Verona. Of course we had to take in an opera. After a nice picnic on the stone steps we used our pizza ...
Cortina D'Ampezzo, Veneto, Italy wenzels... a hitch to Panzani on the sideline, but the Bergamo corner stepped in front and intercepted the ball. I came over and made the tackle and punched the ball out in the process but Bergamo was able to recover the fumble.

At that point I was in at corner opposite Ciba. Our defense dug in, battled and on third and six Reed drilled Bergamo’s QB to force a field goal attempt. I came off the edge and deflected the kick, which was then blocked by the ...
Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy mavsqb1... and Edwin Thursday night. I was fine with that but then he called in the morning and said (I think) that the field was occupied so we bagged it, which was also fine with me. Ciba had invited me over for dinner but I couldn’t because of practice. I called him back and so he told me to come over at four. I hit the gym and then drove over to his house. I have stopped riding the bike lately because I believe all the bike riding I was doing has led to tendonitis ...
Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy mavsqb1... which took us up to around 3000 Meters. The visibility was endless which meant for good pictures. We were a little cold as we walked on the crusty snow but it was well worth it. After the ride we decided to take advantage of the good weather to drive a circuit through Arabba to Corvara then west to Passo Gardena and back to Penia via Canazai. If you've been here before you will know how beautiful the area is. If you have never ...
Penia, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy marybc... a moat around a castle WHAT A COINCIDENCE! The castle is the home to an art exhibition each year and we have many photos of it. We will post some for you soon. This artist had various paintings, sculptures and other installations within the castle and outside of it. Very nice, very nice. Shelley was second guessing the intentions of the artist she is now our art critique.....she didn't think much of the resin coated frogs. Lorraine and Dave were ...
