... If he had worked in an English speaking country, he surely wouldn't be living in Poland now. Fair point.

He took us out to visit Anita's babcia. We went to a tiny little village out of town that looked like it'd seen better days. In fact, most of Poland had seen better days. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, and more recently, the induction into the E.U, all of Poland's wealth and labour force had moved west across the border ...
Kamienna Góra, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland andrew.campbell... Mountains is part of the larger Sudetes range. Its highest peak is Sniezka which stands on the border between the Poland and Czech Republic - at a height of 1602 meters above sea level. The mountains are wonderful for trekking and ski. Large areas of the mountains are preserved as National Park.

To see photos from Jelenia Gora and Mountains please click here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =7KSPFn6p9Y0
Jelenia Gora, Western Poland, Poland ulka... little tent (and man, do I mean little) is not only really really little, but it is also really waterproof. And I can honestly say that it is actually a decent tradeoff. But actually, my whole point is to answer a question that has come up a few times: What am I reading when I stretch out at night in our really really teeny tine tent? I find that good books are like gold when traveling. Despite their weight, I try to always have at ...
Szklarska Poreba, Western Poland, Poland bogna... only mosses on the highest peaks. The highest of these, Mt Sniezka (1602m), was to be our primary destination for the short weekend trip. We spent a night in Opole before heading off around 9am back up the A4, leaving it at Wroclaw soon after 10am. With some heavy Saturday morning traffic of the single laned road, we decided to stop off in Swidnica for a morning coffee. Ania actually suggested we stop in a "****** town" and Swidnica seemed to fit that description quite aptly. The skies ...
Karpacz, Western Poland, Poland will... or not, desperately trying to work out what we think fuel will cost and what its advertised. Only when we get back we find its 40z to the pound, so shopping was incredibly cheap, to the extent Rob wishes to go back!! I make coleslaw (P.I.T.A) and a potatoes salad and its 12 degrees but without a breeze so Robs outside doing a BBQ. The campsite was difficult to find but is a nice site, large, no one around except one other large caravan with no ...
Trutnov, Czech Republic rob.jenn... the main square with the arcade over the sidewalk, so you always walk in the dry! Later when we were back home, we headed back to the hill with some sledge, slide a bit, got all wet, made a pregnant snow-woman and played in the snow. The playing in the snow was... quite romantic I must say, I will surely always remember the moment as I loved it eventhough nothing actually happened. It was still full of nice thought ...
Trutnov, Czech Republic maplefanta... then walked decided to eat at the hotel restaurant; very cute -- like dining in a peasant's courtyard, but clean, and with orchids. After dinner, the rain had let up, and it was still light. So we walked to town and had ice cream and capuccinos in a very cute cafe -- candles on the table, wood burning in the corner fireplace. At hotel, Kyla was very hyper. We played a game of cards; I won.
Szklarska Poreba, Poland ahartry... is situated within the national park). Lowlights: -Getting off at wrong train station and having to walk 3km to our accommodation. (This was an easy mistake to make as we later found out that there are 3 stations with the same name.) Narrative and pictures to followww.
Teplice Rock Town, Czech Republic rosanddave... but we were leaving the next day and really wanted to see it. The climb was relatively easy, maybe an hour or a bit more, and the forest around us was beautiful. The castle was really cool, although it's probably worth it to get up early and see these places before everyone else gets there. The next day we headed to Wroclaw, where Monika caught a train home to get ready for her brother's wedding. It was sad that our travelling companions had all left, but we felt ready to continue on our own.
