Chora Ios, Cyclades, Greece, 84001, 30-22860-92027-
Forty five minutes after our depressing departure from Santorini, we arrived at the island of Ios. The island isn't as well known as Santorini, and was much less touristy. We got to the port and were picked up by our next friendly hostel owner, Kiriagos (I think?) along with four other American students who were on their fall break from Rome were also staying at the same hostel. He drove us up to the top of this hill overlooking the whole island, which is where Hotel Skala was located. It ...
Ios, Cyclades, Greece hahn105Friends, we are on Ios Island in the Cyclades southeast of mainland Greece. I am writing this on one of the MacBooks lent out by this coffee shop in the village. Greeks love their little hole-in-the-wall coffee shops and I have to admit, I love them as well! After Croatia, we took a ferry from Split to Ancona, Italy. Excerpt from Scooter: Well... Our original plan to see Europe included Italy from top to bottom. However, as we snaked through Austria, Hungary, and Croatia, our plan to ...

this trip was very special to me,because it was the first one after I finally finished with school and had the freedom to do everything I want, without anybody else controlling me!the only thing I wanted to do is find a nice place with great people to relax and so I did.i met many interesting people and it was a journey to remember!
Naxos, Cyclades, Greece malena.drelaWell, a very enjoyable last night in Santorini. had dinner at a lovely restaurant overlooking the sunset strip. Pity it wasn't the clearest of nights but still spectacular.
Dinner consisted of grilled pork with pureed red pepper and potatoes with cheese and Souvlaki Lamb with baked potato.
A 5.00 am start got us on to the flight to Athens then Rome.
After a sleep in we wandered into town to choose a suitable location for our anniversary dinner tonight (21 years!).
As usual we just had to take more photos ~ don't worry, after a few more tonight this will be all of Santorini.
Next, Italy where the forecast is 0 to 14 degrees. BRR BRR
... After an hour or so walking over the lava flows we motored on to some hot springs where hardier folk than us braved an icy plunge into the sea to reach the warm springs.(Hey we're used to tropical waters!)
Soon we moored at Thirasia Island for a couple of hours for lunch and Mythos at waterfront tavernas which are still much as they were 50 years ago.
Tomorrow is our last day here so we are making the most of the sun, as the forecast for Italy is bloody freezing
... The island is so beautiful and looks like it is covered with snow but it is actually the white houses- all of the towns are located up high on the mountain rather than down at sea level. The donkey ride up was hilarious! Women were screaming and the greek men were trying to make them understand that they were scaring the donkeys and needed to shut up. It was a little bit scary because the donkeys got really close to the edge of the pathway and they didn't care if ...
Santorini, Cyclades, Greece steveandwhitneySome things must be said about the Greek ferry system. It is a pretty lovely way to travel for short amounts of time. We have taken a few overnight ferries and you really have to make the best of it on those. On our first overnight ferry from Split, Croatia to Ancona, Italy, we each tried to stretch out on the airplane-type seats in a section of the boat located down in the belly (the area where if the boat's going down, we're in a rough situation). The ...
Ios, Cyclades, Greece scooterandlaura... Bull Bar" and quickly ran into the HBS guys who were really living it up. The scene was really spring breaky, but fun. Although Lauren could not be convinced to dance on the bar as most other girls were, we seemed to fit in relatively well even for a married coupl. Before getting back on the boat, we finished off with a nightcap around 3:30am with some of the crew from the 2nd boat who had arrived very late that night.
Ios, Greece laurenandy... first wet t-shirt comp of the season. Calling it a t-shirt comp is a bit of false advertising, clothing didn't last very long. After the boobies were put away, I went up to a restaurant, Harmony, that overlooks the sea and makes sure workers are well looked after. It's absolutely beautiful out there, and with the chilled out live music, it's the ideal place to waste away several hours. Just sitting around, enjoying the scenery, having friends come up to say goodbye and hang out ...
