Worth your time!

I recently stayed at 60 Thompson after finding a stellar rate on the hotel's website--the "Thompson Shopper" deal, available on Sunday nights. After reading several reviews on Trip Advisor, I thought it best to request a room on a high floor, which I did by calling the hotel. When my girlfriend and I arrived, we were pleased by the attentive, professional bell staff and by the fact that our room was on the very top floor. The room itself was quite large (especially compared to the one at the Hudson, where we'd stayed the night before) and appointed in a tasteful, if slightly institutional, manner. The Frette linens were a real treat, as were the Fresh toiletries. The minibar was well-stocked and the room service menu pretty comprehensive. We visited the Thom Bar downstairs for a cocktail around five in the evening, and it was quiet and relaxing; when we returned to the hotel much later that night, it was quite busy and the music was playing loudly, so we were doubly appreciative of our room well above all the noise. I thought the staff was very professional and especially friendly for a SoHo hotel. Overall, I'd recommend 60 Thompson to travelers who'd like to be conveniently located--it's a short walk to lots of great boutiques and restaurants--and appreciate a slightly more subdued, adult, trendiness. Look on the hotel's own site to get a good deal, though--it's honestly just not worth the $400-plus rate they usually charge.

If you are a party person, this is the right place.

I like this place. Because this is very convieniten to go around Soho, Village, and Tribeca. For me, very close to Chinatown is good thing.

When I came to be tired wester food, I could easily have chinese and vietnamese breakfast( any kinds of Congee, Pho, Dumpling etc).

Actually, this place is very trendy, snobbish, material and flashy. If you do not like flashy thing, better to go to othre place. This place shows me one faces of the latest New York. This is a reason I like this place. Because New York is tha capital of capitalisim in the world.

May be hip, but definitely uncool

Having been told by my 21 year old daughter that 60 Thompson was "the" place to stay in NYC, I had high expectations for my stay. To say I was disappointed is a great understatement. If "hip" means that the noise begins at 2:00 A.M. and that my only chair in the room is a straight back desk chair with a TV table next to it then I am not hip. The room was small even by NY standards. No place to unpack. The door to the bathroom could not be closed (too large for the opening). The elevator requries the key to your room to activate it but the process did not work so everyone had to go fetch someone from the front desk or a bell boy to operate the elevator. My breakfast took over 45 minutes to arrive - oatmeal with no silverware and no sugar. Hard ot eat. Another 30 minute waiting for my spoon and now, of course, cold as ice. Charged for minibar drinks although minibar remained lock the entire time. Need I go on? Have stayed at the Omni Berkshire many times in the past.

Lovely hotel. Have no idea what possessed me to try this new hotel but have lived to regret it. Try as I might, there is nothing I can think of to say positive about my stay. Oh sorry - one night the maid did leave me an extra brownie. She probably felt sorry for me.

Great for families, too!

We stayed at 60 Thompson from Dec. 21-23, 2003. Our family of four (two kids, mom and dad) had a beautiful deluxe double room. We loved the location of this hotel. It was extremely easy to walk to the areas of SOHO and Greenwich Village, as well as Chinatown. The subway was only a couple of blocks away. The room was done in quiet hues of beige and taupe. It felt very warm and cozy. The marble bathrooms and frettes linens were to die for. You can tell immediately that this is an upscale hotel; it is very classy, yet our "average Joe" type of family felt very comfortable and not the least bit out of place. We were catered to in every way. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only complaints, (and these are miniscule) were the room's view (the side of a building- but hey, you are in NYC) and the lack of a drink machine on any of the floors to purchase a soda (this complaint came from our 13 year old). We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone- young singles, couples AND families. We had a delightful stay and hopefully will be able to return someday.

Finally - Well-managed Hipness

After so many disastrous stays at various W and Ian Schrager properties, I became skeptical in the "hip hotel experience" - until I stayed at 60 Thompson this past weekend. Interiors (lighting in particular) were chic and took advantage of all the site had to offer.

The location was much better than Soho Grand and Tribeca Grand. Service was perhaps the best I've seen in new york boutique hotels thus far - of course, it's nothing like the Peninsula but the staff was cheerful and professional. We stayed at a Deluxe Room and it was as spacious as the generous marble bathroom. I look forward to returning to this well-managed hip hotel.

A cool place perfect located in Soho

A cool hotel, perfect lokated in silent street next to the subway, to the shops and to the nightlife of Soho. The crew looks pretty and cool, but they are also attentive and friendly. The rooms are spacious (about 340 square feet) and comfortable. The air condition is silent and effective. The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms are also very nice. At the rooftop you can relax during the day and during the night you can have a drink.

It takes reall effort to be so bad

I stayed at 60 Thompson last year. On our first night we were unable to use the hotel bar, there being a private party. We had to sit in the lobby area. I handwrote a complaint to the manager - no response was ever received. Our room overlooked rubbish on the roof below. The roof terrace was open for just two of our 4 night stay even though the weather was good througout. The concierge was busy playing his game boy. We had to call down to ask that the music be turned down, pumping away from the bar below. Breakfast was incredibly expensive and followed the minimalist theme. We didn't bother to eat at any other time there, fearing the worst. All staff appeared exceptionally young.

The location is by far the best bit about this overated, overpriced, slice of Americal pie.

Great Hotel, Great Location

We stayed in 60 Thompson in March, 2003. It's a great hotel with spacious rooms and a great bar and restaurant. The staff are friendly and helpful and pretty cool looking too! One of the best things about this hotel is it's location in the heart of Soho... not to be missed!

Very good

The rooms are very well designed. Great roof lounge and bar. Very trendy. Great for people watching. Very good restaurant too..

The Worst

Frette linens do not make for a luxery hotel. There was no doorman at night. When the room temperature rose to 90 degrees, we were told that the room thermostats are not operational and we should shut off the heat and open the windows. No one escorted us to our room when we checked in. No one asked how our experience was when we checked out (they must have known). The place is an expensive joke.
