... but I turned up reday to go and they said it was too windy (it was quite windy) to do the trip so it was cancelled.
I went back to the hostel because the people I'd met the night before were planning to do a hike and several of us set out for Lopes Mendes beach. ... the night before we were all exhausted, unfortunately I was hit a little harder and felt absolutely awful!! I was sick through out the night but we had made a plan to trek and I couldn't miss out on paradise island! Marco our new Italian friend (who will help me out once I move to Venice!) had researched the island and we planned to trek to Lopez Mendes, this was a 2 hour trek through the forest with Lopez Mendes being the last beach. Unfortunately I only conquered the first hour of ...
... and afternoon snoozes.
And a few observations so far:
- Doing anything in the Brazilian sunshine is knackering.
- You need good shoes to travel.
- Portuguese is a really hard language.
- Not many people in Rio and Ilha Grande speak English.
- Mosquitoes and insects are everywhere.

... vendor! We got to the station at 3pm and did the typical tourist thing and ran the opposite direction to the Costa bus company. Eventually we found the line which of course at 15minutes past the hour was the longest in the massive station. Chaos ensued as there were fights up ahead at the counter, the Brazilian ladies are not to be messed with! Security called and a big important woman arrived to calm the situation while we wide eyed gringos looked on as the clock ...
