Get me outta here!

Well I suppose we were pretty spoilt in Santorini. But I have to say Crete wasn't exactly what we had in mind!

We left Santorini on the slow boat (took about 3 hours) to Crete (which we heard was fabulous) and were sorely disappointed!

The weather was grey and pouring with rain - like really p!ssing down - and neither of us had any wet weather gear (or cagoules). Bugger. Not such good weather for people with yucky head colds!

Anyway, we ...

Minoans! (and why can't the land stop moving?)

Today we will wander around the old city with trips to the open air market and the archeological museum.

The ferry and airplane rides seem to affect my (Nancy's) inner ear in a way that on land, everything continues to move. It is annoying and made hiking up and down rocky hillsides a little extra challenging. Hopefully it will quiet down now that there are nop more ferry rides.

... was magic but the cocktails were dreadful. Kevin’s martini had ouzo in it but the barman refused to do another. Chris’ margharita seemed to be alcohol free and Milly’s Manhattan didn’t taste very good. So we moved to Axos for more drinks – this time excellent, and then to our favourite eating place, Yannis, for dinner. The drinks and food there were superb too and they gave us free cheese pies and raki (as if we needed more booze). Nice.

Fantastic Campsite with tents and small bungalows

... on the house with George. There is a wonderful array of people sitting at the bar in the evening,(mostly long time friends of George) of all ages and from all over the world and they just all seem to gel even though some of them have just got to know each other. We spent some wonderful evenings at this bar and are so thankful we found this campsite as it is by far the best, cheapest and friendliest on Crete.
It is a very clean and has ...

Somehow wherever I am on holiday I think about Mark. Perhaps it's because you notice couples holding hands on the beach or it's just part of the holiday romance ...

... spirit… sau asa am simtit eu, in cele 14 zile cat am fost in Grecia.

In Romania biserica ortodoxa e mai putin bogata in imobile, dar sper mai profunda in spirit. Desi face progrese.

Thankful

Just finished reading Portraits by Cynthia Freeman. Makes me feel even more grateful for my family. I must be one of the luckiest girls around to have a family who love and support me.

Where to eat?

... to get us eating at there place. But thankfully they didn't - with exception of one, but you have that evrywhere, don't you? "Hello come into my restaurant. We sell nice food.. fish.. meat.." and they quote the whole menu to you while all you want to do is run away. So in our case not the best way to get us to eat there. That's sounds like rather childish behaviour of us if I read that :/

I just swollowed salt water *Yuck!* The sea was lovely though - many waves!

It's hot!

... apartement. But at last -we didn't think we would ever get there!- we arrived there and sat down exhausted, dripping with sweat, at the pool dipping our feet in the lovely cool water. I almost, almost, jumped in it with all my clothes on and all! After a few minutes Eve decided to get busy and clean the pool and tried to get bugs and leaves out of it with a fsihing net. When back at our aprtment we ...

A tough start

... heavy backpacks. I just hear or parents say 'I told you so!', but why did we take so many clothes with us? All we need is a bikini! Finally - after my flipflops breaking and me not being able to bend down to make them- Laura did it for me- we saw the sign we had arrived at our destination at last! Phew!

Holly & Eve

btw we are taking a cat or 5 back home!
