Day Off in Puerto Varas

A travel blog entry by mersonjames

... Just like a Scottish summer.

I am trying to improve my Spanish so like to look at signs to see if I can work out what they mean. I see a poster outside a Hotel saying "Cena De Los Enamorados". My train of thought went along these lines. I know from my Spanish lessons that Cena is dinner. So it's dinner for something or someone. The English format for Enamorados would be enamorateds. Enamorated - enamoured - amour or amor = love. So it is dinner for ...

The next day I had decided to go to one of the little mini islands just off the main island where I intend to visit Curaco de Velez and Achao and spend the night in the latter. It is easy enough to get a minibus ...

Farthest South We've Ever Been!

... picked us up for a tour of Puerto Varas and Puerto Montt. We drove by the lakeside and around Puerto Varas before driving 20 minutes to see Puerto Montt.

We first arrived at a cliff where you could easily see the South Pacific and Puerto Montt. Then, we drove through the city to the waterfront. Our guide gave us a few minutes to walk around before we went to the Fish Market.

The fish market was full of foods ...
