Lovely little hotel in great location

We spent four nights at this lovely boutique hotel, Sirkeci Mansion (formerly Sirkeci Konak). Great location, with all of the main sights (Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and the Basilica Cistern) within walking distance and on a nice quiet street. Shops line the street and other dining options only short walk away.

Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We appreciated the little bronze dome of Turkish delight on the bed. Next stay we would probably request a room on a higher level as on the first floor we were right near the stairwell and noise from the downstairs lobby carried, especially in the morning during breakfast setup.

Great staff, very hospitable, welcoming and attentive.

The hotel restaurant Neyzade Restaurant provided delicious Turkish meals. In the warmer months they open up the restaurant on the roof top terrace affording wonderful views of the Bosphorus on one side and Park Gulhane (garden of the Topkapi Palace) the other. Was still open at the time of the year we travelled and enjoyed numerous dinners up there. Mezze was a range of very tasty small dishes, the stand out being the sea fennel salad. Also enjoyed beef with tomatoes and onions on pilaf and local roast sea bass. At the end of each meal we were offered lovely Turkish delight. Complimentary breakfast was also a welcome inclusion.

We enjoyed complimentary Tea Time, held from 4:30 to 6:30 every night with Turkish tea and simit (bagel with sesame seeds). It's a lovely afternoon ritual.

Would stay here again on any return trips to Istanbul.

    Staff excellence

We are two couples (older in age younger at spirit). We stayed six nights at the Orient Express (truly an outstanding value - highly recommended - very near the Konak). Following one night break they moved us to their upgraded hotel for four nights at the Orient Express rate. The Sircegi Konak is a new hotel still taking care of final arrangements. Its location is central to tourists' places of great interest (location, location, location). Its staff is truly outstanding and most helpful.

Rooms are spacious. The new Hammam - men and women in one spot - is free, pay only for massage - and is tasteful. Rooms are very nice size. Modern decor is attractive. Breakfast is sumptuous. All in all it provided us with an excellent experience. True it's more expensive than the Orient Express but it's luxury is clear.

Getting back to the airport ask hotel for reasonably priced transport

If you want the best hotel in Istanbul, stay at the Sirkeci Konak hotel in Gulhane, Istanbul. Great location, antique style, brand new, imaculately clean facilities, excellent accommodation and very helpful and courteous staff.

During our stay the friendly staff patiently took the time to help resolve lost property issues, gave us directions to destinations we wished to visit and listened to personal problems not related to the hotel. Concierge and cleaners were also very friendly and helpful.

Within this period we took advantage of our hotel facilities, such as the turkish bath, pool, sauna, spa, gym and massage room. It was very difficult for us to seperate ourselves from these facilities and see what we actually came here to see the wonderful city.

The lounge area is a great place to relax and enjoy refreshments. Service was excellent. For breakfast we were expecting just a few nibbles but breakfast was a lovely gourmet continental spread, with 5 different food presentations each day, such as traditional Turkish cheeses, fruits and nuts, pastries, soup, etc. It was very difficult to even think about food for the rest of the day!

Overall review - excellent value for money. We highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Istanbul.

We will miss the staff which we have made our friends...

    A Gem of Hotel

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in May 2007. We were originally booked at another hotel in the group, but were upgraded to the Sirkeci Konak on arrival.

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel , which is located in the Old Centre and very close to many of the major tourist attractions.

The Front Office, Porters, Dining Room and all other staff that we had contact with were very friendly and helpful.

The room was very clean and the aircon was efficient and most importantly, quiet.

Meals in the didning room were excellent and reasonably priced.

The hotel liaison officer, Petek Goker was absolutely delightful. She was very friendly, helpful and had an excellent command of the English language.

We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to any travellers who were not in the five star market.

If you would like to experience a Turkish Bath, Mustaffa's your man. It was an experience I will never forget.

    Sirkeci Konak Istanbul

The new Istanbul Sirkeco Konak hotel is a must see ! The situation is perfect: next to the Topkapi Palace, close to Saint Sophia ..

The service is very unique. You feel like you are at home with your family / friends around you. A highly individual treatment makes your stay extremely pleasant .The fine breakfast buffet and nice restaurant (in Summer you can have diner on the roof terrace !) are very appealing. A massage or treatment in the hotel Hammam is a perfect way to end your day in Istanbul !

    What an excellent hotel!

I have stayed at Sirkeci Konak June 6-11 2007 and it's a pleasure for me to share my experiences of the hotel.

Everything functioned very well. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. The personnel and the service were excellent. I received all the assistance I could wish for at all hours and by all categories of the personnel and always in a very friendly way. When returning after long days out of the hotel it was like coming home. The atmosphere in the hotel is warm and welcoming.

I want to convey my thanks to all personnel for making my stay so enjoyable and congratulate the management for having created a hotel environment with the qualities mentioned above.

    Best regards,

    Ottima ubicazione, personale accogliente

    Great location, friendly staff

This hotel is in a great location for sightseeing, only 5-10 minutes walk to Topkapi, the Blue Mosque & Aya Sofya or down to the railway station and some ferry terminals.

The tram stop is two minutes from the hotel and will take you to the Bazaar and onwards or down over the Galati Bridge to Kabatsh which is only 5 minutes from the Dolmache Palace. At Kabatsh you can take the Funicuular up to Taxsim Sq.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the hotel was spotless despite some finishing work being done to this new hotel.

Plenty of choice for breakfast althought I cannot comment on dinner as I did not eat in the hotel of an evening.

I was upgraded from a sister hotel so received superb value for money although for the going price it is still good value having a pool and sauna and being very comfortable.

    Afternoon cruise along the Bosphorus

What better way to spend a sunny afternoon than aboard a boat cruising the Bosphorus. Istanbul is the only city in the world that straddles two continents and the boat was the perfect way to see along both the European shoreline, on our way out and the Asian side upon our return.

For our second full day in Istanbul we had organised a small tour to go through Aya Sofya (Hagia Sophia) and the Basilica Cistern. Our guide collected us from our hotel and we walked to the minivan waiting a few streets away. During the day our little street becomes a pedestrian only walkway and bollards go up to stop traffic. What followed was a …

The Grand Bazaar is home to over 4,000 shops, one of the largest, oldest covered markets in the world. An experience in itself but chaotic - need to be prepared for this market! Arrived in Istanbul on Sunday afternoon, bustling very chaotic airport but we managed to get through customs with not much fuss and were soon on our way.
