I love this hotel!
I spent valentine's day in this hotel and we got the executive deluxe room.
It was a small cosy room but worth every penny.
This is not an expensive hotel for a 5 star.
We absolutely loved the bed which was big, soft and very comfortable with thick comforter.
The air conditioner works very well.
The bathroom, although small is very sophisticatedly designed with bright lightings.
All the toiletries like mouth rinse, toothbrushes, bath gels etc..are provided.
Our room, comes with breakfast in the executive lounge. It was such a private lounge with alot of good quality food being served. The waiters are very smartly dressed and polite.
Before checking in and after checking out,the staffs are very friendly, having conversation with us and even helped to get us a cab.
This is definately a good customer service!
We have never been in a hotel, with extremely friend staffs. One of the smiley staff even told me that she loved my bouquet of roses.
The location of this hotel is excellent.
This is a very popular hotel due to its location, service hospitality and high standards, you should book the rooms in advance if you like to get a room.
We will definately come back and stay here.
Great Hotel with Greater Location
I echo the praises for the Marriott's location at Orchard and Scotts Rds. MRT is basically right out the door. There's plenty of shopping with Tang Plaza, Paragon, Ngee Ann City, etc. adjacent or short walk away, and plenty of nightlife with Bar None and the after hours favorite The Living Room inside the Marriott, and Brix practically next door at the Grand Hyatt. If you need to make adjustments or adds to your SQ itinerary, there's a plush Singapore Airlines office at the Paragon not far away. And there's plenty of travel agencies nearby to do last minute getaways.
I heard that the rooms are smaller at this Marriott to fit the polygon shape of the hotel, but I found the size adequate. I love that there's a small basketball court at the gym! The breakfast buffet is very good...though you do pay for it. All in all a very good hotel with an excellent location.
Bad for money
I am stayed for one night in this hotel. But, this is a terrible NIGHT for me in my life. I have booked the hotel 2 weeks in advance. But when the time i checked in, the poor staff still have to let me wait for 2 hours to check in!! At the time, only 2 customers at the Q line. When my turn, the staff asked me to wait for one hour to allow cleaner to clean room. I AM SO WONDERED WHY SHOULD WAIT FOR AN HOURS? The hotel check out time is 12noon, but the cleaners need 3 hours to clean the room?? Add in, the room is very old, furniture is very rundown. I WILL NOT COME BACK THIS HOTEL AGAIN!
Great hotel in a superb location. I have never had a bad experince with Marriott and this hotel was very good. Only stayed one night on the way to BBK. Room service was very impressive and breakfast was very good in the restaurant.
Staff were friendly and provided great service.
No complaints, only praise.
One of the best locations
I live in Singapore, but stayed here one night, since our apartment wasn't ready. We have had many friends stay here on business. Central location opposite the Orchard MRT. Located on Orchard Road-it's surrounded by shopping malls, movie theaters and restaurants. This street gets really crowded on weekends-the epicenter of Singaporean life.
Inside the hotel-it's just a Marriott. You know what your getting, but nothing too special. A good business hotel.
Found the cafe crossroads and the buffet expensive and not worth the price. If you are here for Thanksgiving, they do serve the American spread with turkey and all the fixings.
People watching at the outside bar
I stayed at the Marriott. I was by myself on business. Stayed for 8 days. The hotel is perfectly located. It has a great outside bar for people watching. About a thousand people walk by every hour. If you have to go by yourself this is the place to stay. People there are very nice. Genrally there is no tipping. I tipped all the wait staff and was treated like a king. Check out the pool on the roof, very cool!
The hotel reception and lobby area is the best part of it. The hotel is due for a major facelift. The rooms are spacious but old, with untasteful furnishing.
We stayed there for couple of days and on our last day we asked for the late check out at 4pm, the receptionist said he'll check the availability and very nicely told us they can give us the late check out at half a daily rate. How nice, but we said no thanks. Most hotels in singapore will ask you if you want an upgrade, once you say yes please they'll tell you, that's only ?dollars a night. I don't think that's a professional selling tactic from the 5 star properties
Marriott Singapore hits the spot
Great location on Orchard Road, above Tang's Department Store and the MRT subway station.
Room was fine - nicely appointed, if not super-luxurious. Club Lounge very nice for breakfast or a pre-dinner Tiger Beer (or whatever you like).
Pleasant poolside restaurant and I particularly liked the roadside cafe set-up, which offers reasonably priced food and drink in a "inside/outside" spot where you can watch the hustle and bustle of this busy thoroughfare.
I'd happily return.
Very convenient, comfortable room
Stayed there in Feb, 2004. Because of its octagon shape, the room is shaped a bit funny. However, it offered all the good amenities that you expect from Marriott Hotel, and it was quite comfortable. The service was very good as well.
The hotel is located right in the middle of Orchard Road, so it was very convenient for shopping. It was also attached to the train station, so if you wanted to get around town, it would be quite easy. I think this hotel may be located in one of the best location for sightseeing in Singapore.
Restaurants are pretty good -- especially the dim sum place on the 2nd floor and breakfast buffet at the cafe on the lobby floor. However, avoid Seafood Buffet in the evening -- they aren't that good and didn't offer enough variety of seafood, yet the price was pretty high.
5-Star Facilities & Location
This is about the best location you can be if you want to be at the heart of all the action for shopping, eating, and sightseeing.
Rooms are good ... Marriott standard ... but you are paying for the good brand and good location. I think it's worth it if you are making a one-time visit. You get 5-star standards which generally speaking, the Asian hotels deliver much better (and much cheaper) than western comparisons.
Bar None located in the hotel's basement is one the city's coolest night spots. In fact, night life in Singapore is much more happening than the island's sqeaky clean image suggest.

Happy National Day! Today is the 50th anniversary of Singapore. Today is a big deal not only because of the 50th but also because the founder of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, passed away earlier this year. Also, today was the day to check out of the Marriott :( I enjoyed my last breakfast in the lounge and watched CNN to stay …
We wake up a little later today but likely due to the time change. We are all feeling abit sluggish and are into taking it easy today. We have decided to try the buffet breakfast again and have ordered L to make sure she eats her $21 (kids price) worth this time. Turns out there is ice cream at this breakfast buffet so it is not a problem! We all …
The next stop in Singapore is more than a couple hour layover it's more like 30. Our original trip was to spend more time in Singapore and visit relatives, but between planing the trip and now they have moved to Vancouver. ( which is great for us as seeing them only requires on short ferry ride and a lot less planning. ) our time in Singapore has …
... go wrong?! So I booked the shuttle bus to get me to the airport - the early hours that only really exist in dreamland / slumberland, continue & remain unmentionable coz then I would have to accept them into a reality which would require acceptance of existence & the emotional trauma that accompanies it all!!!! I think what with the bus experience & trust issues that I've bravely endured recently, best not to push it any further eh. I feel like such a traveller! ...
