... at 7am...it's pouring rain, more like someone is draining a lake onto Taiwan!! Traffic is insane and Baby (our driver) is worried that we won't make our train...which would mean we would also miss our flight! I went on a slight shopping spree in Taiwan, so we were carrying two large boxes as well as our backpacks! Very windy today … but good weather. Sun and clear air!

After breakfast, we piled into the van and drove down the coast toward Kenting National Park. The first part of the drive was along the motorway and very boring, as it was particularly hazy today. I was intrigued by the number of driving ranges, with their massive nets, sitting amidst the apartment blocks, but otherwise there was little of interest.

Dinner was a fabulous array of hotpot items and a very tasty box full of vegetarian specialties. I love the food every time I go to FGS! It's amazing! After dinner, we walked around and took pictures. There were some fireworks around 8:30 and they were quite extensive, but we thought it was the test round because we'd been told that they were coming at midnight. We took some photos and then planned to go to a better viewing area ...

... back in the 1600's. They discovered that it was a great place for fishing and went back to their home only to bring back their friends and family to settle here. Tianhou Temple, dedicated to the sea god of mercy, was constructed here in 1673 and is the oldest temple in Kaohsiung. It is incredibly beautiful and very popular with the local people here. There are tons of street vendors and seafood restaurants lining the street that leads to the beach. ...
