We arrived around 11am in Chiang Rai. We crossed the border from Laos at around 7am. We was stamped for 30 days visa, which has recently changed from 15 days for a land crossing, which was good for us.

We found ourself a nice garden guesthouse tucked away behind a main road. It was a nice room and was only 200 baht per night which is only 4 gbp.

We planned to just spend the day here in Chiang Rai ...

... drive back. Basically some people have diverted a hot stream into multiple pipes, which lead into hot tubs in private rooms which you can rent for about 70baht per person (about $3). It was a beautiful room made of concrete with native plants growing around the edges, and the water was incredibly hot, which was a nice reward for our long trek.
