Our free day in Antalya, yeah! We got up and had a relatively leisurely breakfast for us, 8am. After a bit of organising we headed off to explore the old city of Antalya which is about a 10 minute walk from our hotel. ... took us through several sets of mountains and quite a bit of snow. The village we stopped to have lunch in had snow on the ground. The cafe was basically a tent but it had a heater inside it. ... or something!! I walked down the road away from the salon and tried to comb it straight. Then I put my sunnies on and was so glad I wouldn't be bumping into anyone I knew! Another good laugh and story! The guy was actually an ok cutter, it was just the mousse, trying to make it curly, cutting it too short and the lack of a common language. It cost me the grand sum of $15!!!!

... pine trees and David said it could have been New Zealand! We looked down into a valley with hillsides of terracing. The roads were windy and steep but in good condition. We reached the top of the range and descended to the coast where the temperature was a sunny 19 degrees. We went from having the bus heating on, to air conditioning!

Another amazing place that we visited was an Open Air Museum at an area called Goreme. Apparently Paul (he of the Letters to the Corinthians, etc) decided that Goreme was a good place to train missionaries in the 4th Century. There is some geological explanation involving volcanic erruptions, erosion, etc but the end result is the weirdest landscape of soft rock that can be easily carved with a hard-rock ...
