HERE IS THE END OF MY SUMMER DESTINATIONS 2009 Blog.

I can admit, I went to more places than I expected. It was fun each time, and I really need to stay a bit at home now before my next trip. Again the coming trip comes sooner than I expected it to be.
<br ...
EVIA, Greece greekcypriot... is.From there we traveled south to Napfoli and a beautiful mideval city. The town is a seaside trading port once occupied by the Venitians from 1100-1700. It is capped by an intact fort 998 steps up( we counted all of them) the side of the cliff above town. Everyone was enthralled by their imagination while walking within the walls. The entrace walls were all capped by the Venetian lions. There were turrents and tunnels throughout and Jon and Jackson especially had fun exploring each ...
Peloponnese, Greece krupnicksgo1st of May....

A short trip in the countryside !!

We drove to ACHLADERI, and down the beautiful beach of KORASIDA .

The tradition today is that every family makes a WREATH either from flowers from the garden, or wreaths from wild flowers - the one I prefer !!
If the weather is good - mostly it is here in Greece -, then families get down the beach or in fields having barbeques, children playing, and men drinking and ...
Mandráki, Greece greekcypriot... what I was looking at. The most impressive to me were the tholos (circular chamber-type) tombs. You can still walk inside these structures, which used to house the royal remains of Aegisthus, Klyemnestra and Agamemnon. Back in Nafplio, I took the steep climb up 890-plus stone steps to the 216-metre summit of the Palamidhi fortress. The view from the top of this fortress was absolutely breath-taking! After I climbed back down, I rewarded myself with a ...
Peloponnese, Greece canadianjulie... other guests. From Syros, I decided to take a long ferry ride over to Rhodes in the Dodecanese Islands. Rhodes interested me because it has a part of town (aptly called the Old Town) that is completely enclosed by a wall. When I arrived in Rhodes Town, I was met at the port by a friendly woman who was ready to give me a place to stay, at a price. We negotiated after I got a free ride into Old Town and I decided to stay there for my next two ...
Dodecanese, Greece broncos... the entire distance without stopping, but moments after proclaiming his message "Nenikekamen" ("We were Victorious!") to the city he collapsed dead from exhaustion. The account of the run from Marathon to Athens first appears in Plutarch's On the Glory of Athens in the 1st century AD. I walked around Marathon, population 9000, but it was a ghost town. Most stores were closed and had siesta hours so visiting mid-afternoon wasn't ...
Marathon, Attica, Greece rnriggins... new found Brazilian friends - Paul and Rachel. We only realised that we have met each other before in Poros after a chat over food. A pack of seagulls sent us back to Athens...there were so many of them... the people on the ship just kept feeding them... it was a sight indeed!
Saronic Gulf Islands, Greece ikanbilis... was at the souvenir shop that I first got to know Uncle Warren. A great jolly fellow he is! We were tickled by his little witty outbursts on the bus. Our next stop was the Epidaurus Theatre. We were in awe. The theatres I only peered at in pictures! It reminded me of the Coloseum in Rome though of course, the purpose of the theatre was quite different. The Sanctuary of ...

STENI EVIAS, Greece eviaTrekking in the Gorge of Demosari It's another great day today, and we leave early to meet the coach which will take us up to mount Ohi.
