... through school in the morning, from all the classrooms I hear lots of chanting and repetition - this is how they learn things in China, and when they are reading or studying they say it out loud. Proper lessons start around 8:15 (apart from on Mondays when they start later). ... and have been living here for 4 years. I admire them because they have a functional knowledge of Chinese which I know I will never have. We were chatting about things we find interesting here – lots of funny stories. I commented on the dressy clothes and shoes a lot of the women wear and they shared a word they’ve coined to describe it – prosti-chic, and that’s it! I can’t describe it but you can use your imaginations!
