With only a week to go I thought I'd try out our first blog entry! Just a boring entry about preparation. Anyway to ensure we can be self sufficient for at least 48 hours, as in the fridge, lights and water pump keep running without electric hookup. I replaced our faulty 105ah leisure battery with a larger 125ah one. After all no one should have warm beer on holiday.

On to two Roman forts, vindolanda, just off Hadrian's wall, and housesteads, actually on the wall. Vindolanda is a wonderful site of a classic Roman fort with an adjoining civilian settlement. There is also an exceptionally good museum. Excavations continue at two locations at the site, one in the fort and one in the village.
