... in a radically different part of the world. This past semester I completed a World Religions class to prepare for the trip, and learned about many different religions including Buddhism, which is very prevalent in South East Asia, namely Theravada Buddhism.
I hope to learn a lot.
I'm hoping this will be somewhat of a spiritual journey for me, and I pray that the experiences I have over the next few months will help shape me into a better person.

I know, I know, we should have stayed home, snuggled against the cold and snow, but...it's my birthday and we thought we should go somewhere and celebrate. Not quite the truth, but here's how it happened:
As many of you know, we've been searching for a replacement for what's his name, the motorhome. (Keep this mum, as he has feelings too.) So I realize that Costco gives a great discount for RVs too, as well as cars and such.
... we had on this trip. This was a bit of a surprise. We did take bare bones camping equipment (just in case) but ended up not using it (except for using the sleeping bag for one night when we stayed with one of Ruth's nieces). This equipment did take up a good fraction of the space available in our little Prius C, but I think we will still probably take it next time -- depending on where we go, camping may be desirable even when motel/hotel lodging is available.
