    ... oldest amphitheater in the world. Before all the ones we have seen so far! We also saw the minotaurs labyrinth. We never knew that the maze actually was the palace.     ... the airport this afternoon and checked in to a tourist hotel called Hotel Sofia. Not fancy but perfect for overnight as we fly early AM to Athens. We are waiting as family from Crete will drive here tonite to dine with us.

    Looking forward to home but would like a few more days to see things we are told are worth a Drive in Crete like Chania and the Samaria Gorge----maybe next time!!

    ... from fried whole shrimp and kythariki to grilled sardines and dolmades. The seafood in Crete is notoriously good, but everything else was just as delicious!! We ate as much as we could of the food and were stuffed, only to find dessert coming later. Many restaurants serve karpouzi, or watermelon, after a meal.
