Silkeborg was a beautiful little city built around it's river. It had walking paths by the river, and in the summer had river cruises. Such a pretty place. One thing that caught our attention was the garages for boats, complete with roller doors and all.
Silkeborg, Jutland, Denmark danandrozAnother viking museum called Moesgard. Fantastic. There was also a forest walk that was replanted in various sections with trees that grew in different time periods of Denmarks history. One section was planted with trees from one particular era, and another section with another era, etc. You'd call it a giant open-air flora museum. It was beautiful, even in winter. There were also things like an iron age house and a stone age barrow and a more recent fishermans house etc.
Arhus, Central Jutland, Denmark danandroz... just enough not to be embarrassed about speaking our cringable Danish to strangers. It certainly was an 18th birthday week to remember. This week the Christmas decorations have gone up. The town is decorated from head to foot in fake mistletoe, some ugly red berries and lit up Christmas trees every few feet. There are more Santa's walking around town now days than I thought possible. Each house has some signs of Christmas and I am starting to learn a ...
Sejs Silkeborg, Denmark --nadie--... On Friday we took a 2 hours bus ride to a world famous salt factory with our language school. There we bathed in the hot salt water pools (they are so high in salt you float on the top of the water like in the Dead Sea). We also saw a 3d film and a film on the history of salt. It sounds boring but it was really good. Maybe it was the good company. J When we got back from the factory we all attended a community dinner where we each made a small presentation about the differences between ...
Silkeborg, Denmark --nadie--... from later today, and where we were scheduled to perform tomorrow. So my first task was to locate it. It turned out it wasn't all that hard. If you know the way, it was only ten minutes on foot from the hotel, and right by the Gudenåo, the longest Danish river. Truth to say, when I first saw Gudenåo, I had no idea it was " the longest Danish river ". To me it looked more like a bigger canal along whose sides there was a yacht club, mini golf, bicycle path and a bunch of ...
Silkeborg, Denmark the_wayfarer... a little and found myself surrounded only by the Danes. As I arrived at the immigration desk, the officer politely observed that there were a lot of people from my parts that evening. "Seven." - I said. "I think we're all now." He welcomed me politely into his country and so, for the first time in twenty six years, I stepped again officially on the Danish soil. By the time I, too, came to the luggage conveyor belt, the others had already more ...
Silkeborg, Denmark the_wayfarer... hotdog--I'm pretty close to convinced its one fo the best things ever, believe it or not. It sounds simple--just a hot dog in the middle of a french loaf of bread...but its great! :) Still having beautiful weather here in Europe...I can't believe how great its been. Although I'm wishing I could see some of the beautiful colors at home!
